Albino Jara
Colonel Albino Jara Benegas (28 February 1877 – 15 May 1912) was provisional President of Paraguay from 19 January 1911 to 5 July 1911. A military official, he was a member of the Liberal Party. He came to power during a coup orchestrated by him against previous president Manuel Gondra. He later chose Liberato Marcial Rojas as his successor following widespread rebellion and unrest. Albino Jara fought in the Revolution of 1904 as a Major, supporting the Liberals. He, a radical, had grown discontent over Liberal inaction leading up to and during the presidency of Manuel Gondra. So, on 21 February 1911, Jara, now a Colonel, launched a military coup against him. This was successful, and he assumed office on 19 January 1911. Concepción () is a city & district in northern Paraguay and capital of the Concepción Department. It lies next to the Paraguay River. Founded by a Spanish Governor, named Agustín Fernado de Pinedo, the town prospered in the early years of the 20th century, as a centre for the north of the country, exploiting the new wealth of the Gran Chaco, and a river port. History Of Paraguay
The history of Paraguay begins with the interaction between the early Spanish colonists and the indigenous people. The agricultural Guaraní lived in eastern Paraguay and neighboring countries and the nomadic Guaycuruan tribes lived in western Paraguay. The first Spanish explorers reached Paraguay in 1524. As Paraguay lacked mineral wealth and was isolated and land-locked, it was relatively unimportant to the Spanish. The small number of Spanish men resident in Paraguay intermarried with native women, resulting in a mestizo population. Most of the Guaraní (often called "Indians" or "Indios" in older documents) adopted the Roman Catholic religion of the Spaniards, but continued to speak the Guaraní language which along with Spanish is spoken by most people in Paraguay.
