Joseph Albert Albertson (October 17, 1906 – January 20, 1993) was an American businessman, the founder of the Albertsons (SuperValu), Albertsons chain of grocery stores. Early life Born in Yukon, Oklahoma, Yukon, Oklahoma Territory, Albertson was one of four sons born to Rhoda and Earl Albertson. In 1909, before he was three, the family moved west to Caldwell, Idaho, Caldwell, Idaho. Albertson Van Zo Post (July 28, 1866 – January 23, 1938) was an American fencer and writer. He earned two gold medals in the 1904 Summer Olympics as well as a silver and two bronze medals, and also competed in the 1912 Summer Olympics. Post was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Caroline Burnet, a daughter of General Nathaniel McLean, and Henry A. V. Post, an engineer and sharpshooter during the American Civil War. Albertson, known as Van Zo, was the eldest of seven children; his brother Edwin married the etiquette writer Emily Post. William Albertson (May 7, 1910 – February 19, 1972) was a 20th-century American leader in the Communist Party of the USA who battled federal and state courts, and who in 1964 was framed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which was only discovered posthumously in 1975. Nathaniel Albertson (June 10, 1800 – December 16, 1863) was a U.S. Representative from Indiana from 1849 to 1851. Biography Born in Fairfax, Virginia, Albertson moved to Salem, Indiana, and engaged in agricultural pursuits. He served as member of the State house of representatives 1838–1840. Kathryn McCurry Albertson (August 27, 1908 – April 30, 2002) was the wife of the founder of the Albertsons chain of grocery stores and a notable philanthropist. Biography Born Kathryn McCurry in Boise, Idaho on August 27, 1908, she was the daughter of Neunan and Ida Mae McCurry.
