Alberto Losa (born 1917) was a Swiss football (soccer), footballer who played in the late 1930s, 1940s and early 1950s. He played as Midfielder (football), midfielder. Losa first played at least two seasons for FC Nordstern Basel, Nordstern Basel. He then moved for the first time to FC Locarno, Locarno. Losa joined FC Basel, Basel's first team in their 1940–41 FC Basel season, 1940–41 season. He made his debut for his new club in the Swiss Cup on 21 December 1941 in a home game at the Landhof that Basel won 3–0 against BSC Young Boys, Young Boys. He played his domestic league debut for the club in the home game at the Landhof on 18 January 1942 against FC Schaffhausen, Schaffhausen. A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders. Fritz Schmidlin (born 30 November 1914; date of death unknown) was a Swiss footballer who played for FC Basel in the second half of the 1930s and the first half of the 1940s. He played as midfielder. Schmidlin played his youth football by FC Basel and joined their first team before their 1934–35 season. He played his domestic league debut for the club in the away game on 10 March 1935 as Basel drew 2–2 with Etoile Carouge. He scored his first goal for his club on 26 January 1936 in the away game against Grasshopper Club. In fact he scored both goals but could not prevent his team's 2–5 defeat. Schmidlin played eleven years for Basel. In the season 1938/39 Schmidlin and the team suffered relegation to the 1 Liga. Although Basel were 1 Liga champions the following season, there was no relegation and no promotion due to the second World War. The Wankdorf Stadium (german: Wankdorfstadion, ) was a football stadium in the Wankdorf quarter of Bern, Switzerland, and the former home of Swiss club BSC Young Boys. Erhard Grieder was a footballer who played for FC Basel during one season in the early 1940s. He played as a forward. Grieder joined Basel's first team during their 1941–42 season. After one test match, he made his domestic league debut for the club in the home game at the Landhof on 18 January 1942 against Schaffhausen. He scored his first goal for his club in the same game, in fact he scored five times as Basel won 11–0. His next game was in the round of 16 in the Swiss Cup. Grieder scored a hat-trick in this game as Basel knocked Solothurn out of the competition by six goals to one.
