Alberto Armando
Alberto José Armando (February 4, 1910 – December 28, 1988) was an Argentine businessman and football manager. He was the president of club Boca Juniors from 1954 to 1955, and from 1960 to 1980. With Armando as president, Boca Juniors gained international recognition after winning its first Copa Libertadores (1977 and 1978) and the first Intercontinental Cup in 1977. The Boca Juniors stadium was renamed in his honour in December 2000 by then President Mauricio Macri. Life and career Armando was born in Santa Fe, Argentina, in 1910, and raised in nearby San Francisco, Córdoba. He married María Mercedes Crespo and became affiliated with the Boca Juniors football club in the 1940s, when he became known as ''El Puma''. Torneos de Verano (Spanish for "Summer Tournaments") are a series of short friendly football pre-season tournaments held during the southern summer in Argentina every year, usually in January and February. They serve as preparation for the teams for the season coming; however, as the years went by the competitiveness in the tournaments increased, and they are now considered as important competitions. This is clearly reflected in the high crowd attendance for the games. The 1970 Primera División season was the 79th season of top-flight football in Argentina, with Independiente winning the Metropolitano championship (9th title) by goals for difference (43–42) after being equaled on points with River Plate. In the Nacional championship, Boca Juniors (coached by José María Silvero after Alfredo Di Stéfano resigned) won its 18th league title after beating Rosario Central in the final. Starting this season, two substitutions were allowed per team during the game. That rule had been first introduced in 1959, but for injured goalkeepers only. Ernesto Grillo
Ernesto Grillo (1 October 1929 – 18 June 1998) was an Argentine footballer who played as a midfielder for Independiente and Boca Juniors in Argentina, as well as A.C. Milan in Italy. He also represented the Argentina national team. He is included in the Argentine Football Association Hall of Fame. He became a legend when playing for Argentina scored the goal against England which beat 3–1 in 1953. Biography After learning his trade in the youth teams of River Plate and Independiente Grillo started his professional playing career in 1949 with Independiente. The highlight of Grillo's career came on 14 May 1953 in a match versus England, when he scored a legendary goal for Argentina.
