Albertine (song)
"Albertine" is a song by singer-songwriter Brooke Fraser, and the third single from her second studio album, '' Albertine''. It was largely inspired by a Rwandan orphan, by the name of Albertine, whom Fraser met while there in 2005. "Albertine" did not appear on any record chart, but it won Fraser the annual APRA Silver Scroll. Background and release Fraser went to Rwanda on behalf of World Vision in 2005, the first of many trips. While there, she met a girl named Albertine, who had become orphaned by the genocide of 1994. Fraser described Albertine as "tall and beautiful". Her guide, Joel, took her to a village school in Kabuga district, and showed her a girl whose life the guide had personally saved. On her return, she felt she was "in a position where I could share message with other people nd as a musicianthat could be a great way to contribute in and of itself". Brooke Gabrielle Ligertwood (née Fraser; born 15 December 1983) better known by her maiden name Brooke Fraser, is a New Zealand singer and songwriter best known for her hit single " Something in the Water", released in 2010. Fraser released two studio albums ''What to Do with Daylight'' (2003) and '' Albertine'' (2006) through Columbia Records before signing a recording contract with Wood + Bone. Her third studio album, '' Flags'', was released in 2010 and is her most successful album to date. Her most recent album, ''Brutal Romantic'', was released in November 2014 through Vagrant Records. ''Crazy? Yes! Dumb? No!'' is the second full-length album released by The Mint Chicks and was originally released in New Zealand on the Flying Nun label. The album was produced by singer Kody, guitarist Ruban Nielson, and their father Chris Nielson. Despite its humble beginnings (the album was recorded between Kody Nielson's garage and his father's bedroom) the album dominated the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards 2007, earning five awards as well as achieving Gold status in the Chicks' home country of New Zealand. Evermore are a band originally from Feilding, New Zealand, now based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The band consists of brothers Jon (guitar, vocals, album production), Peter (keyboards, bass, vocals) and Dann Hume (drums, guitar, vocals). "Light Surrounding You" is the second single by alternative rock band, Evermore, taken from their second studio album, ''Real Life'' (June 2006). It was written by Dann Hume, the group's drummer. The record is co-produced by Jon Hume. The song was released in October 2006 and peaked at No. 15 on the RIANZ Singles Chart in New Zealand and number one on the ARIA Singles Chart, making it Evermore's most successful single in Australia. It was the first single by a New Zealand artist to top the Australian charts since " How Bizarre" by OMC in 1996. Suite101 was a collaborative publishing site based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It formerly generated revenue from advertisements and shared that revenue with contributors; but effective November 1, 2013, that revenue sharing program was terminated.
