Alberta Winter Games
The Alberta Winter Games (AWG) is a Canadian provincial multi-sport event hosted in the province of Alberta. It is the winter portion of the multi-sport Alberta Games, which also involves the Alberta Summer Games and is strictly for amateur athletes. The inaugural year for the Alberta Winter Games was in 1976 and was hosted in Banff, Alberta. This event is held independently from the national Canadian event, the Canada Winter Games. Since 2000, the Alberta Winter Games and the Alberta Summer Games have been held every two years in the same calendar year, a change made in order to help to align the Alberta Games' cycle with the Canada Games. Alberta ( ) is one of the thirteen provinces and territories of Canada. It is part of Western Canada and is one of the three prairie provinces. The BC Games Society is a provincial crown corporation in British Columbia created in 1977. The organization is the governing body responsible for the BC Summer Games and BC Winter Games, and manages the Team BC program at the Canada Games. Quebec Games
The Quebec Games (french: 'Jeux du Québec') is a biennial multi-sport event, held every two years in the Canadian province of Quebec, alternating between the Quebec Winter Games and the Quebec Summer Games. Athletes are strictly amateur only, and represent their region. The Games were founded in 1970. The first editions of both the Quebec Winter Games and Quebec Summer Games were held in 1971. Games Ontario
The Ontario Games program is Ontario, Canada's largest multi-sport amateur event which involves hosting and organizing separate events for athletes aged 9–18 years, parasport athletes, and athletes 55 and older. The program is provided by the Government of Ontario's Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries. Games Ontario is the provincial crown corporation charged with organizing this multi-sport event under the title of "Ontario Games". Beginning in 1970, the event acted as a showcase for amateur sport. The Manitoba Games are a multi-sport event in Manitoba, Canada, held once every two years and are organized by Sport Manitoba. The event has two different seasonal events: the winter games and summer games. The event consists of teams held from all regions of the province. Saskatchewan Games
The Saskatchewan Summer Games and Saskatchewan Winter Games are multi-sport events held in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The governing body for the Saskatchewan Games is the Saskatchewan Games Council, a non-profit organization who has held responsibility for organizing the Games since 2006. The Saskatchewan Games have been cancelled since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The BC Winter Games are an amateur sporting event held in British Columbia, Canada on every other (even-numbered) year. The next BC Winter Games are scheduled to be held in Greater Vernon, BC from March 23 to 26, 2023. Western Canada Summer Games
The Western Canada Summer Games (WCSG) were established in 1975 as a multi-sport event to provide development opportunities for amateur athletes and to help them advance their skills in a competitive, but friendly environment. Athletes range in age between 13 years of age and 23 years of age.
