Albert R. Alexander
Albert R. Alexander (November 8, 1859 - 1966) was a Canadian-born American judge who from Plattsburg, Missouri, who became the world's oldest serving judge and the world's longest serving judge. He retired on July 9, 1965, at the age of 105 years and 8 months. Alexander also worked as a farmer, a teacher, a newspaper publisher, and a lawyer. From 1901 until 1916, he was the owner and publisher of the ''Plattsburg Leader''. In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson appointed him Postmaster for Plattsburg where he served until 1927. In 1950, he was elected to the office of Magistrate and Probate Judge of Clinton County, Missouri. Judge Wesley E. Plattsburg, Missouri
Plattsburg is a city in and the county seat of Clinton County, Missouri and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area in the western part of the state, within the United States. It developed along the Little Platte River. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 2,222. History The area along the rivers had been occupied for thousands of years by indigenous peoples. Historic American Indian tribes in the area included the Ioway, Fox and Sac tribes, who ceded land to the United States in the Platte Purchase. This area became part of northwest Missouri. The European-American settlers first called their settlement Concord. (This has been used for a contemporary man-made lake and surrounding housing development in the city.) Later the city was renamed Springfield. After the discovery that there was an earlier Springfield, Missouri, settlers named it "Plattsburg," after Plattsburgh, New York. Clinton County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. As of the 2010 U.S. Census, the county had a population of 20,743. Its county seat is Plattsburg. The county was organized January 2, 1833 and named for Governor DeWitt Clinton of New York. Joseph William Woodrough
Joseph William Woodrough (August 29, 1873 – October 2, 1977) was a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and previously was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska. He is the longest-serving federal judge in history, with a total service tenure of 61 years. Education and career Born on August 29, 1873, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Woodrough studied at Heidelberg University in the German Empire and then read law in 1893. He was a Judge of the Ward County Court in Texas from 1894 to 1896. He was the County Attorney of Ward County in 1897. He was in private practice in Omaha, Nebraska, from 1898 to 1916.
