Albert Morris Sames
Albert Morris Sames (February 9, 1873 – March 16, 1958) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Arizona. Education and career Born on February 9, 1873, in Rockford, Illinois, Sames received a Bachelor of Laws in 1894 from the University of Wisconsin Law School and a Master of Laws in 1895 from the Columbian University School of Law (now the George Washington University Law School). He entered private practice in Los Angeles, California from 1898 to 1899. He was in private practice in Solomonville, Arizona Territory, from 1899 to 1902. He was in private practice in Douglas, Arizona Territory (State of Arizona from February 14, 1912) from 1902 to 1916. He was an assistant district attorney for Cochise County, Arizona Territory in 1904. He was city clerk and Treasurer for Douglas in 1905. Senior Status
Senior status is a form of semi-retirement for United States federal judges. To qualify, a judge in the Federal judiciary of the United States, federal court system must be at least 65 years old, and the sum of the judge's age and years of service as a federal judge must be at least 80 years. As long as senior judges carry at least a 25 percent caseload or meet other criteria for activity, they remain entitled to maintain a staffed office and chambers, including a secretary and their normal complement of law clerks, and they continue to receive annual cost-of-living increases. Senior judges vacate their seats on the bench, and the President of the United States, president may appoint new full-time judges to fill those seats. Some U.S. states have similar systems for senior judges. Arizona Territory
The Territory of Arizona (also known as Arizona Territory) was a territory of the United States that existed from February 24, 1863, until February 14, 1912, when the remaining extent of the territory was admitted to the Union as the state of Arizona. It was created from the western half of the New Mexico Territory during the American Civil War. Herbert Hoover
Herbert Clark Hoover (August 10, 1874 – October 20, 1964) was an American politician who served as the 31st president of the United States from 1929 to 1933 and a member of the Republican Party, holding office during the onset of the Great Depression in the United States.
