Albert Hoffman (artist)
Albert Hoffman (1915–1993) was an American painter and wood carver. Never progressing beyond a sixth-grade education, Hoffman earned his living operating a junkyard in Galloway Township, New Jersey, near Atlantic City.Kent, Bill"Obscure No More" ''The New York Times'', July 6, 1997. His works are also a mirror of his personal interests: whaling, horse racing, and Native Americans all found places in his paintings. The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum (AARFAM) is the United States' first and the world's oldest continually operated museum dedicated to the preservation, collection, and exhibition of American folk art. Located just outside the historic boundary of Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia, AARFAM was founded with a collection donated by Abby Aldrich Rockefeller and an endowment from her widower, John D. Noyes Museum Of Art
The Noyes Museum of Art is an art museum. It styles itself as the only fine arts museum in southern New Jersey. The museum opened in 1983 in Galloway Township, New Jersey. Due to lack of funds for needed repairs, the main Galloway building in Oceanville was closed to the public in 2016. The Oceanville property was eventually sold in 2021. The museum has since moved into four other affiliated sites where its collection is displayed: the Noyes Art Garage in Atlantic City, Kramer Hall in Hammonton, the Noyes Gallery at The Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City, and the Seaview golf club in Galloway. Since 2017, the museum is fully a part of Stockton University, a partnership which began in 2010 and expanded in 2016.
