Albert Fletcher (footballer, Born 1867)
Albert Thomas Fletcher (4 June 1867 – 1940) was an English international footballer, who played as a right half. Career Born in Wolverhampton, Fletcher, was described as.a man who was huge in both body and spirit, a real 'man mountain' who nevertheless possessed a great deal of skill. He signed for Willenhall Pickwick in 1885. In 1886 Fletcher signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers when Jack Addenbrooke paid a golden sovereign for his signature from Willenhall Pickwick. Wolverhampton Wanderers joined the Football League two years after Fletcher joined the club. Fletcher, playing as one of the two wing-halves made his League debut on 8 September 1888, at Dudley Road, the then home of Wolverhampton Wanderers. The visitors were Aston Villa and the match ended in a 1–1 draw. Thorneyholme Road is a cricket and former football ground in Accrington, England. It is the home ground of Accrington Cricket Club, and was the home ground of Accrington F.C. from 1878 until 1896 when they dissolved. History Thorneyholme Road was opened as a cricket ground in 1878 when Accrington Cricket Club moved to the site. Accrington F.C. were founded in the same year, and also became based at the ground. Molineux Stadium
Molineux Stadium ( ) in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England, has been the home ground of Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers since 1889. The first stadium built for use by a Football League club, it was one of the first British grounds to have floodlights installed and hosted some of the earliest European club games in the 1950s. At the time of its multi-million pound renovation in the early 1990s, Molineux was one of the biggest and most modern stadia in England, though it has since been eclipsed by other ground developments. The stadium has hosted England internationals and, more recently, England under-21 internationals, as well as the first UEFA Cup Final in 1972. Accrington is a town in the Hyndburn borough of Lancashire, England. It lies about east of Blackburn, west of Burnley, east of Preston, north of Manchester and is situated on the culverted River Hyndburn. David Wykes (15 September 1867 – 7 October 1895) was an English footballer who played for Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Football League, making his debut in its inaugural season in 1888-1889. Born in Walsall on 15 September 1867, he played initially for Bloxwich Strollers, then Wednesbury Town and his home club Walsall Swifts before signing for Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 1888. David Wykes, playing as one of the two wingers made his League debut on 15 September 1888, at Dudley Road, the then home of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
