Albeli (1955 Film)
''Albeli'' is a 1955 Hindi romantic drama film produced and directed by Devendra Goel. The film starred Geeta Bali in the title role of Albeli. It was produced under the Films And Televisions banner. The music director and lyricist was Ravi, who had made his debut as a composer with Goel's film ''Vachan'' released the same year as ''Albeli''. Besides Geeta Bali, the film co-starred Pradeep Kumar, Brijranjana Shukla, Om Prakash, Randhir, Johnny Walker and Tun Tun. The film involves a girl infatuated by a theatre personality and her antics in trying to get his attention, to the extent of staging a false kidnapping, both falling in love midway through the drama. Devendra Goel (3 March 1919 – 26 February 1979) was an Indian film director and producer of Bollywood films and best known for his work in the 1950s and early 1960s. He directed Aankhen on his debut. Jankidas Mehra (1910 – 18 June 2003) was an Indian actor of Hindi cinema, cyclist, production designer, and writer. He made over 1000 film appearances between the 1930s and 1997. Biography Sports Jankidas served as the only Indian member of the International Olympic Committee at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin along with Hockey legend Major Dhyanchand and was the only Indian to have broken the world record in cycling between 1934 and 1942.
