Albanian Swimming Federation
The Albanian Swimming Federation ( sq, Federata Shqiptare e Notit (FSHN)) is the national governing body of aquatic sports in Albania, ranging from swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, open water swimming, and water polo. The federation is tasked with the development, promotion and international representation of swimming in Albania. It is a member of the Albanian National Olympic Committee. The Albanian swimming federation is a member of the European Swimming League (LEN) and the International Swimming Federation (FINA). The Albanian Swimming Federation organizes aquatic sports competitions at national, European and international level in all categories for men and women; junior and adult age groups. Swimming (sport)
Swimming is an individual or team racing sport that requires the use of one's entire body to move through water. The sport takes place in pools or open water (e.g., in a sea or lake). Competitive swimming is one of the most popular Olympic sports, with varied distance events in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and individual medley. In addition to these individual events, four swimmers can take part in either a freestyle or medley relay. A medley relay consists of four swimmers who will each swim a different stroke, ordered as backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle. Swimming each stroke requires a set of specific techniques; in competition, there are distinct regulations concerning the acceptable form for each individual stroke. Sidni Hoxha
Sidni Hoxha (born 6 January 1992, in Shkoder) is an Albanian swimmer who participated for the first time in the 2008 Olympic Games in the 50 m freestyle at the age of 16 years. Hoxha swam for Old Dominion University in Virginia. He swam for the Albanian swim club Tirana Defina Sport (TDS), which was initially coached by Dashamir Bregu and later by his father Shpetim Hoxha and Agron Cukja. Albania first participated at the Summer Olympic Games in 1972. They missed the next four games, three of them for political reasons due to the 1980 Summer Olympics boycott, 1984 Summer Olympics boycott and 1988 boycotts, but returned for the Barcelona 1992 Summer Olympics. They have appeared in all games since then. They made their Winter Olympic Games debut in 2006. Albania has competed at every celebration of the Mediterranean Games since the 1987 Mediterranean Games. As of 2022, Albanian athletes have won a total of 49 medals. The country's ranking in the history of the Games is the 17th place. History Albania participate for the first time in their history at the Mediterranean Games in 1987 Syria.
