Albanian Rock
Albanian rock describes music in Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia and other Albanian-inhabited areas closely related to western rock. It has a wide variety of subgenres like pop rock, alternative rock, hard rock and Metal music, metal. History 1960s American and British influence marked Albanian rock music in its first steps. The first known Albanian rock band was called ''Blue Star''. They appeared in 1964 in Prishtinë and were later renamed as ''Modestët'' (The Modests). 1970s In the beginning of the 1970s, the rock scene present in Mitrovicë, Kosovo (then Yugoslavia) was made of Albanian and Serbian bands. Some of these bands, like MAK (band), MAK had both Albanian and Serbian musicians. Another bi-ethnic band was FAN (band), FAN also based in Mitrovicë. In 1978 the famous guitarist and composer Nexhat Macula formed one of the best Albanian rock bands of all time, called "TNT" in Mitrovica. Albania ( ; sq, Shqipëri or ), or , also or . officially the Republic of Albania ( sq, Republika e Shqipërisë), is a country in Southeastern Europe. Elita 5
Elita 5 is an Albanian rock band formed in Tetovë in 1988. The group consisted of vocalist Arif Ziberi, guitarist Mevaip Mustafi, drummer Besim Ibraimi, bass player Agron Idrizi and keyboardist Nexhat Mujovi. With a heavy rock sound and Albanian influence, the band is considered a pioneer of Albanian rock and their songs have a very large fanbase in Albania. It is one of the bands that marked and indicated the path of Albanian rock music in the post-communism period. Career The band formed in 1988 in the town of Tetovo, SR Macedonia, although their first recording was published as an album titled ''Elita 5'' in 1990. They have repeatedly refused to play in competitive festivals stating that "the band does not belong in festivals", preferring concerts instead. In a 2001 concert, the band had opened in Tirana, Albania for the German heavy metal band Scorpions, the vocalist Arif Ziberi in an interview noted that this was one of the most exciting moments in his life. Music of Kosovo is music that originates from Kosovo, a country in the Balkans. Kosovo's population is mainly Kosovo Albanians, also known as Kosovars, and there are various minority ethnic groups as well. Kosovan music is closely related to that of neighbouring Albania, as well as to that of countries in the former Yugoslavia. Eugent Bushpepa
Eugent Bushpepa (; born 2 July 1984), also known by his alternative name Gent Bushpepa, is an Albanian singer, songwriter and composer. Regarded as one of the most popular modern rock musicians in the Albanian-speaking world, he is noted for his vocal range, vocal power, high-energy live performances, and is also recognised as an accomplished guitarist. Bushpepa and his band were the supporting acts on the concert tours of Deep Purple in 2007, Duff Mckagan ( Guns N' Roses) in 2011 and Overkill in 2014. On 18 August 2013, he performed a full concert with Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal. Bushpepa is the sole author of his song which was reworked for the Eurovision by Jim Lowe, a Grammy Award-winning British record producer and audio engineer. Gjurmët (trans. ''The Traces'') was a SFRY, Yugoslav New wave music, new wave band formed in Pristina in 1980. The band is notable for being one of the first Yugoslav Rock music, rock bands formed by Kosovo Albanians and the first New wave music, new wave band from SAP Kosovo. Gjurmët was formed and led by Migjen Kelmendi (vocals, rhythm guitar). The band released only one self-titled album before disbanding in 1986. The band made three one-off reunions, in 1988, 2015 and 2019.
