Alba Rueda
Alba Rueda (born 7 April 1976) is an Argentina, Argentine politician who became the first openly transgender politician in the country to hold a Government of Argentina, senior governmental position when she served as the Undersecretary of Diversity Policies within the Ministry of Women, Genders and Diversity (Argentina), Ministry of Women, Genders and Diversity between January 2020 and May 2022. Early life Rueda was born in Salta on 7 April 1976 and moved to Buenos Aires with her family in the 1990s, where they experienced poverty. She came out at the age of 16 when she renamed herself Alba. She went on to study philosophy at the University of Buenos Aires, though dropped out shortly before completing her degree, citing transphobia amongst university staff. The Ministry of Women, Genders and Diversity ( es, link=no, Ministerio de las Mujeres, Géneros y Diversidad; MMGyD) is a ministry of the Argentine Government tasked with overseeing the country's public policies on issues affecting women and gender and sexual minorities. Transgender Women Politicians
A transgender (often abbreviated as trans) person is someone whose gender identity or gender expression does not correspond with their sex assigned at birth. Many transgender people experience dysphoria, which they seek to alleviate through transitioning, often adopting a different name and set of pronouns in the process. Additionally, they may undergo sex reassignment therapies such as hormone therapy and sex reassignment surgery to more closely align their primary and secondary sex characteristics with their gender identity. Not all transgender people desire these treatments, however, and others may be unable to access them for financial or medical reasons. Rights affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people vary greatly by country or jurisdiction—encompassing everything from the legal recognition of same-sex marriage to the death penalty for homosexuality.
