Mihály Szemes (23 July 1920 – 3 October 1977) was a Hungarian film director. He directed nineteen films between 1947 and 1973. Tatiana Samoilova
Tatiana Yevgenyevna Samoilova (russian: link=no, Татья́на Евге́ньевна Само́йлова; 4 May 1934 – 4 May 2014) was a Soviet and Russian film actress best known for her lead role in ''The Cranes Are Flying'' (1957). She received a number of awards for the film, including a special mention at the Cannes Film Festival. Samoilova had several major roles in the 1960s before largely disappearing from public life. In 1993, she was named a People's Artist of Russia. She made a comeback in the 2000s and received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2007 Moscow Film Festival. Early life The only daughter of actor Yevgeny Samoilov (or Samojlov) and Zinaida Samoilova (née Levina), Samoilova was born in Leningrad on 4 May 1934. Miklós Gábor
Miklós Gábor (7 April 1919 – 2 July 1998) was a Hungarian actor, most remembered for his roles in films ''Valahol Európában'' and ''Mágnás Miska''. He was husband to Éva Ruttkai, and later Éva Vass. Miklós Gábor was born 7 April 1919, in Zalaegerszeg. After finishing the Academy of Drama in 1941, he joined the Madách Theatre. From 1945-1954 he was the member of the National Theatre, leaving in 1975 for the Katona József theatre in Kecskemét. From 1979 to 1984, he worked in the Népszínház theatre, after he returned to the National Theatre. In 1991, he joined the Független Színpad theatre. He died on 2 July 1998, in Budapest. Hédi Váradi
Hédi Váradi (22 September 1929 – 11 April 1987) was a Hungarian actress. Biography At the age of 18, Hédi took acting lessons from the Hungarian acting teacher Kálmán Rózsahegyi at the Academy of Drama and Film in Budapest. In her classes, she met other types of artists such as Berek Kati and Imre Soós. She was for a long time married to Ferenc Bessenyei, but the couple later divorced. After refusing life-saving surgery, she later died from a serious illness. She was laid to rest at the Kerepesi Cemetery in Budapest. Personal life After 1952, Hédi started working in the Madách Theatre in Budapest, and from 1964, she worked in the National Theatre until her death. Her forceful personality and deep, catching style of play made excellent comedy and drama roles. She was famous for her role in Shakespeare's comedy play ''A Midsummer Night's Dream'' as Titania. Ferenc Bessenyei
Ferenc Bessenyei (10 February 1919 – 27 December 2004) was a Hungarian actor and singer. He began his career in the choir at National Theatre of Szeged in 1940 and became one of Hungary's most respected stage performers. As singer he appeared in ''My Fair Lady'' (as Higgins), ''Fiddler on the Roof'' (as milkman Tevje) and ''Zorba the Greek'' (as Zorba). He was a tall man with a deep, powerful voice. He was elected to the Revolutionary Council of the Hungarian Intelligentsia in the 1956 revolt and was not allowed to perform for two years. He was awarded the "Actor of Nation" in 2000. He appeared in 75 films between 1960 and 2001. His second wife was Hédi Váradi actress. Imre Sinkovits (21 September 1928 in Budapest – 18 January 2001 in Budapest) was a Hungarian actor. Career After a year in Downtown Theatre and another in Youth Theatre, in 1949 he got a job in National Theatre, where he stayed until 1956. His breakthrough role was Imre Madách's Moses, which he had played for 22 years, more than 700 times. On 23 October 1956 he recited Sándor Petőfi's Nemzeti dal at the Petőfi Square in Budapest in front of a crowd of 20,000 people. This was the opening act of a youth protest, which protest in a few hours became a nationwide revolt against the government. Sinkovits became a member of the Hungarian Theatre and Film Association Revolutionary Committee on 30 October. After the revolution was crushed, Sinkovits was banned from acting for a half year for his activities, and his membership in the National Theatre was terminated.
