Alaska Broadcast Communications is a local radio broadcasting company, serving the entire southeastern area of Alaska. The main office, along with the Juneau studios, is located at the Juneau Radio Center, located at 3161 Channel Drive in Juneau, Alaska. KTKN (930 AM) is an American commercial radio station airing talk and hot adult contemporary music programming in Ketchikan, Alaska. It is owned and operated by Alaska Broadcast Communications. The studios are at 526 Stedman Street in Ketchikan, with sister station KGTW and next door from its other sister station KFMJ. KTKN programming is also heard on 97.5 FM from translator K248AI; the station holds a permit for a second translator facility. History The current KTKN license, which dates to 1942, is the successor of the first station to operate in Ketchikan. KGBU KGBU was granted its first license to operate on July 29, 1926. It was owned by Roy Thornton, with the licensee soon changed to the Alaska Radio Service Company. As part of General Order 40 in 1928, it relocated from 610 to 900 kilohertz. Ketchikan
Ketchikan ( ; tli, Kichx̱áan) is a city in and the borough seat of the Ketchikan Gateway Borough of Alaska. It is the state's southeasternmost major settlement. Downtown Ketchikan is a National Historic District. With a population at the 2020 census of 8,192, up from 8,050 in 2010, it is the sixth-most populous city in the state, and thirteenth-most populous community when census-designated places are included. KSBZ (103.1 FM, "Mix 103", formerly classic rock "Rock 103"/alternatively known as "The Rock") is an American radio station licensed to serve the community of Sitka, Alaska. The station, established in 1990, is currently owned by Alaska Broadcast Communications, Inc. Programming KSBZ broadcasts a hot adult contemporary music format to the Metro Sitka area. Some programming on the station had derived from Cumulus Media's "Classic Rock" radio network, in its "Rock 103" days. KIFW (1230 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Classic Hits, Oldies, Full-Service format. Licensed to Sitka, Alaska, United States, the station serves the Alaska Panhandle area. The station is owned by Alaska Broadcast Communications, and features programming from ABC Radio. The studios for KIFW and its sister station KSBZ are at 611 Lake Street in Sitka. Programming The station primarily broadcasts adult contemporary music but also airs a "Problem Corner" show where listeners call concerning local issues, among other subjects. The City and Borough of Juneau, more commonly known simply as Juneau ( ; tli, Dzánti K'ihéeni ), is the capital city of the state of Alaska. Located in the Gastineau Channel and the Alaskan panhandle, it is a unified municipality and the second- largest city in the United States by area.
