Alan Steelman
Alan Watson Steelman (born March 15, 1942) is an American businessman from Dallas who served as a Republican Party (United States), Republican congressman from Texas between 1973 and 1977; at the time of his election, he was the youngest sitting member of Congress. He gave up his Fifth Congressional District seat to challenge Democratic Party (United States), Democratic incumbent Lloyd Bentsen, Lloyd M. Bentsen, Jr., in the 1976 United States Senate election in Texas, 1976 election. Steelman was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. He attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, Waco, Texas, on a baseball scholarship. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1964 and was president of his class. A scholarship is a form of financial aid awarded to students for further education. Generally, scholarships are awarded based on a set of criteria such as academic merit, diversity and inclusion, athletic skill, and financial need. A suburb (more broadly suburban area) is an area within a metropolitan area, which may include commercial and mixed-use, that is primarily a residential area. Fred Meyer is an American chain of hypermarket superstores founded in 1922 in Portland, Oregon, USA, by Fred G. Meyer. Bruce Reynolds Alger (June 12, 1918 – April 13, 2015) was an American politician, real estate agent and developer, and a Republican U.S. representative from Texas, the first to have represented a Dallas district since Reconstruction.
