Alan Lotty
Alan Lotty (15 July 1920 – 10 February 1973) was an Irish hurler who played for Cork Championship club Sarsfields. He played for the Cork senior hurling team for 10 years, during which time he usually lined out as a corner-back or as a wing-back. Lotty began his hurling career at club level with Sarsfields. He broke onto the club's top adult team as a 16-year-old in 1937, however, his club career coincided with a barren spell for the club. Lotty played his last game for the club in 1950. At inter-county level, Lotty was part of the successful Cork minor team that won the All-Ireland Championship in 1938. He joined the Cork senior team in 1939. From his debut, Lotty was ever-present as a corner-back or wing-back and made 30 Championship appearances in a career that ended with his last game in 1949. Glanmire
Glanmire () is a suburban town from Cork city centre, in the civil parish of Rathcooney, County Cork, Ireland. Glanmire is within the administrative area of Cork City Council and the Dáil constituency of Cork North-Central. 1942 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The 1942 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 56th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county hurling tournament. The championship began non 3 May 1942 and ended on 3 September 1942. The championship was won by Cork who secured the title following a 2–14 to 3–4 defeat of Dublin in the All-Ireland final. This was their 13th All-Ireland title. Cork were also the defending champions and retained the title for the fifth time in their history. Munster Minor Hurling Championship
The Munster GAA Hurling Minor Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Electric Ireland Munster GAA Hurling Minor Championship) is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition for male players under the age of 17 in the province of Munster, and has been contested every year since the 1928 championship. The final, usually held on the first Sunday in July, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during May and June, and the results determine which team receives the TWA Cup. Glen Rovers GAA
Glen Rovers is a Cork (city), Cork-based Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Blackpool, Cork, Ireland. The club was founded in 1916 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. They were Cork senior hurling champions in 2015 and 2016, having won their first title in 26 years in 2015. They retained the championship in 2016, when they beat Erin's Own in the final. Only Blackrock have won more Cork senior hurling championships. Hurling Colours In the early days of the club, its colours were green, white and gold. John Mary Lynch (15 August 1917 – 20 October 1999) was an Irish Fianna Fáil politician who served as Taoiseach from 1966 to 1973 and 1977 to 1979, Leader of Fianna Fáil from 1966 to 1979, Leader of the Opposition from 1973 to 1977, Minister for Finance from 1965 to 1966, Minister for Industry and Commerce from 1959 to 1965, Minister for Education 1957 to 1959, Minister for the Gaeltacht from March 1957 to June 1957, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Lands and Parliamentary Secretary to the Government from 1951 to 1954. Sarsfields GAA is a hurling club is based in the Riverstown and Glanmire area of County Cork. The club plays in the Imokilly GAA, Imokilly division of Cork GAA. 1947 Railway Cup Hurling Championship
The 1947 Railway Cup Hurling Championship was the 21st series of the inter-provincial hurling Railway Cup. Three matches were played between 9 March and 6 April 1947. It was contested by Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster. Munster entered the championship as the defending champions. On 6 April 1947, Connacht won the Railway Cup after a 2-05 to 1-01 defeat of Munster in the final at Croke Park, Dublin. This was their first ever title. The 1941 Railway Cup Hurling Championship was the 15th series of the Railway Cup, an annual hurling championship organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The championship took place between 16 February and 16 March 1941. It was contested by Connacht, Leinster and Munster. Munster entered the championship as the defending champions. The GAA Interprovincial Championship ( ga, An Corn Idir-Chúigeach) or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland. The Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster GAA teams are composed of the best players from the counties in each province. The games are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The Railway Cup was a revival of the Railway Shield which ran from 1905 to 1907 (football) and from 1905 to 1908 (hurling). The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire GAA, Lancashire, London GAA, London and Warwickshire GAA, Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York GAA, New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league.
