Alan Lewis Jones (born 1 June 1957) is a former Welsh people, Welsh cricketer. Jones was a left-handed batsman (cricket), batsman. He was born at Alltwen, Glamorgan. Because his cricket career coincided largely with that of a different Alan Jones (cricketer, born 1938), Alan Jones, also an opening batsman for Glamorgan County Cricket Club, Glamorgan but of longer standing and greater prominence, he was generally known by his full name of "Alan Lewis Jones". Alltwen
Alltwen (or Allt-wen; translates to "white wooded slope") is a village in the Swansea Valley (Welsh: ''Cwmtawe'') in Wales. Alltwen forms part of the community of Cilybebyll and is administered separately from adjoining Pontardawe on the opposite bank of the River Tawe. Alltwen is served by Alltwen Primary School and the village has a rugby union club, Alltwen RFC (Welsh: ''Clwb Rygbi Alltwen''). Government and politics Allt-wen is an electoral ward of Neath Port Talbot county borough and is a part of the community of Cilybebyll. Alan Jones (cricketer, Born 1938)
Alan Jones (born 4 November 1938) is a Welsh cricketer, who played for Glamorgan for almost a quarter of a century. He also played, for a single season each, with Western Australia, Natal and Northern Transvaal. He holds the record for scoring the most runs in first-class cricket without playing in an official Test match. Career Jones was a consistent, compact left-handed opening batsman who scored 1,000 first-class runs in every English cricket season from 1961 to 1983, when he retired. In five out of six seasons from 1963 to 1968 he scored more than 1,800 runs, and he averaged in the mid 30s for most seasons. His consistency and reliability were the foundation for the Championship-winning Glamorgan side of 1969, but were just as important in the much less successful sides of the 1970s.
