Alan King Tennis Classic
The Alan King Tennis Classic was a men's tennis tournament held in Las Vegas, Nevada from 1972-1985. It was an event of the WCT Tour in 1972 before joining the Grand Prix tennis circuit from 1978 until 1985, and was one of the major ranking tournaments of both tours. It was part of the Grand Prix Super Series between 1972 and 1981. The event was hosted by American comedian Alan King and was played on outdoor hard courts of the Caesars Palace hotel. Mark Edmondson
Mark Edmondson (born 28 June 1954 in Gosford, New South Wales) is a retired Australian professional tennis player. Edmondson won the 1976 Australian Open while ranked 212th in the world, and remains the lowest-ranked winner of a Grand Slam tournament since the ATP rankings were introduced in 1973. Gene Mayer (born May 11, 1956) is a former tennis player from the United States who won 14 professional singles titles during his career. Mayer was born in Flushing, Queens, New York. He grew up in Wayne, New Jersey, and played tennis at Wayne Valley High School, where he went unbeaten in his two years on the tennis team. He was a double hander on both forehand and backhand. The 1980 Alan King Tennis Classic, also known as the Alan King-Ceasers Palace Tennis Classic, was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts at the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, United States. It was the ninth edition of the event and was part of the 1980 Volvo Grand Prix circuit. The tournament was held from April 21 through April 27, 1980. First-seeded Björn Borg won the singles title and the accompanying $60,000 first-prize money. It was Borg's second successive singles title at the tournament. Björn Borg
Björn Rune Borg (; born 6 June 1956) is a Swedish former world No. 1 tennis player. Between 1974 and 1981, he became the first man in the Open Era to win 11 Grand Slam singles titles with six at the French Open and five consecutively at Wimbledon. Borg won four consecutive French Open titles (1978–81) and is 6–0 in French Open finals. He was the first man since 1886 to contest six consecutive Wimbledon finals, a record surpassed by Roger Federer's seven consecutive finals (2003–09). Corrado Barazzutti (born 19 February 1953, in Udine) is a former tennis player from Italy. His career-high singles ranking was World No. 7, achieved in August 1978. After his player career Barazzutti was non-playing captain of the Italy Davis Cup team and the Italy Fed Cup team. Since he has been captain, the Italian Fed Cup team have won the Fed Cup (now known as Billie Jean King Cup) four times: 2006, 2009, 2010 and 2013.
