Coffeeville is a town in Clarke County, Alabama, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 263. History The town of Coffeeville was incorporated in 1817. In 1892, Coffeeville was the site for a violent confrontation around economic and racial divides that later became known as the Mitcham War. Clarke County is a county located in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Alabama. As of the 2020 census, the population was 23,087. The county seat is Grove Hill. Thomasville is a city in Clarke County, Alabama, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 3,649. Founded as a late 19th-century railroad town, it has transitioned over the course of more than a century into a 21st-century commercial hub. It is the childhood hometown of author and storyteller Kathryn Tucker Windham. History Thomasville was founded in 1888 and incorporated on November 24 of that year. State Route 69 (SR 69) is a state highway that extends from the southwestern to the northeastern parts of the U.S. state of Alabama. The southern terminus of the highway is at an intersection with SR 177 at Jackson. The northern terminus of the highway is at an intersection with US 431/ SR 79 at Guntersville. Route description SR 69 has a rather irregular trajectory for much of its length. From its southern terminus at Jackson, the highway heads to the northwest as it travels through Clarke County. In the northern part of the county, the highway turns northeastward as it approaches Linden.
