Alabama Commissioner Of Agriculture And Industries
The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries (ADAI) is an independent agency of the government of Alabama first created by an Act of the State Legislature on February 23, 1883. The Department is responsible for serving farmers and consumers of agricultural products and operates with an annual budget of just under $25 million. The Department has about 300 full-time employees and 250 part-time employees. Commissioners The Department is under the direction and supervision of the Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries. The first Commissioner was Edward C. Betts of Madison County and he was appointed by then Governor of Alabama, Edward A. O'Neal. Rick Pate
Rick Pate (born April 6, 1955) is an American politician serving as the 30th Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries in Alabama. He previously served as mayor of Lowndesboro, Alabama from 2004 until his election as Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries in January 2019. He also served as chair of the Lowndes County Republican Party. Pate graduated from Auburn University School of Agriculture in 1978. He is married to Julie Dismukes and they have two children. Charles Bishop (Alabama Politician)
Charles Bishop was a Republican member of the Alabama Senate, representing the 5th District from 2006 to November 3, 2010. He did not seek re-election in 2010. The district covers portions of Jefferson, Tuscaloosa, Walker and Winston counties. He was succeeded by fellow Republican Greg Reed. Career As a Democrat, Bishop served in the Alabama State Senate from 1983 to 1991. He ran unsuccessfully for his party's nomination for governor in 1990 and 2002. Reuben Kolb
Reuben Francis Kolb (1839–1918) was an Alabama politician. Kolb ran unsuccessfully for governor of Alabama thrice, in 1890, 1892 and 1894, first as a Democrat and then as a Populist. He also served as the state's commissioner of agriculture twice, in 1887 and between 1910 and 1914. Early life Kolb was born on April 15, 1839, in Eufaula, Barbour County. He fought in the American Civil War, commanding a Confederate artillery unit. He lived "the privileged life of a wealthy Black Belt planter and merchant during the 1850s," but "lost more than half his 3,000 acres of land, and his once-prosperous mercantile store failed." Ronald D. Sparks (born October 29, 1952) is an American politician from the state of Alabama. He is the former Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries. The Alabama Forestry Commission (AFC) is the forest management agency for the U.S. state of Alabama. It was created as a state agency by an act of the Alabama Legislature in 1924.
