Al Roberts
Al Roberts (born January 6, 1944) is an American football coach. He serves as the special teams, running backs, and outside linebackers coach for the O'Dea High School in Seattle, Washington. Playing career Roberts attended Merced High School in Merced, California and played college football at the University of Washington from 1964 to 1965, and the University of Puget Sound from 1967 to 1968. He holds a holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Puget Sound. Coaching career Roberts began his coaching career at Mercer Island High School from 1969 to 1972, then became the head coach at Garfield High School from 1973 to 1976. He was the running backs coach on Don James's staff at Washington from 1977 to 1982. Roberts joined the Los Angeles Express of the United States Football League (USFL) in 1983 as running backs coach under head coach Hugh Campbell, and followed Campbell to the Houston Oilers in the same capacity from the 1984 and 1985 seasons. O'Dea High School
O'Dea High School is a Catholic all boys high school founded in 1923 and is located in Seattle's First Hill neighborhood. Hugh Campbell
Hugh Campbell (born May 21, 1941) is a former American football and Canadian football player, coach, and executive. He served as a head coach in three different professional gridiron football leagues: the Canadian Football League (CFL), the United States Football League (USFL) and the National Football League (NFL). Campbell retired as the CEO of the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL in 2006. He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2000. College career Campbell played wide receiver at Washington State University from 1959 to 1962. United States Football League
The United States Football League (USFL) was a professional American football league that played for three seasons, 1983 through 1985. The league played a spring/summer schedule in each of its active seasons. The 1986 season was scheduled to be played in the autumn/winter, directly competing against the long-established National Football League (NFL). However, the USFL ceased operations before that season was scheduled to begin. Outside Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen.
