Al Ras () is a locality in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates. It is the westernmost locality in the area of Deira, Dubai, Deira and borders the Dubai Creek to the west and south, and Al Dhagaya and Al Buteen to the east. Al Ras, literally meaning ''The Cape'', is one of the oldest communities in Deira. It is bounded on the north, south and west by route D 85 road (United Arab Emirates), D 85 (Al Baniyas Road) and to the east by Old Baladiya Street (110th Road). Description Important landmarks in Al Ras include the Dubai Gold Souk, Dubai Spice Souk and Al Ras Public Library (aka Dubai Public Library), which is the oldest public library in Dubai. Al Ras Public Library
Al Ras Public Library (aka the Dubai Central Public Library) is the oldest library in Dubai, UAE, opened in 1963. It is located in Al Ras, Deira. Al Ras Public Library was the first public library in Dubai, inaugurated by Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum in 1963. The library includes more than 100,000 books in a number of languages and over 170 periodicals. The library has an activity room, audio-visual facilities, a reading hall, and a separate section for children's literature. The Dubai Metro () is a rapid transit system in the city of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The metro system consists of a network of two main lines: the Red Line and the Green Line. Green Line (Dubai Metro)
The Green Line is one of the two lines in the Dubai Metro network in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It runs through Deira and Bur Dubai, generally parallel to Dubai Creek. Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum (; 11 June 1912 – 7 October 1990) was an Emirati royal, politician and a founder of the United Arab Emirates. Dubai Spice Souk () or the Old Souk is a traditional market (or ''souk'') in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Spice Souk is located in Deira, in eastern Dubai, and is adjacent to the Dubai Gold Souk. The Spice Souk is in the locality of Al Ras, on Baniyas Street, near the Old Souk abra station on Dubai Creek. The souk comprises several narrow lanes which are lined with open and closed-roof stores, and is a tourist attraction. Stores in the Spice Souk sell a variety of fragrances and spices from frankincense and shisha to the many herbs used in Arabic and South Asian food.
