Alkass Sports Channels ( ar, قنوات الكأس الرياضية) is a group of eight sports channels that are broadcast 24/7 from Qatar. Its official name is ''Al Dawri wal Kass'' ( ar, الدوري والكأس, lit=the league and the cup), since it was initially launched to broadcast domestic football in Qatar. The eight channels of Alkass are numbered from one to eight. Starting from 2013, four of its eight channels (Al-Kass 3/6/7/8) are encrypted with Qatari pay-tv network beIN Channels Network, which are specified to broadcasting matches of AFC Champions League and AFC Cup. History Alkass Sports Channels was launched in June 2006 as the second sports channel from Qatar after Al Jazeera Sports. In its first year, the channel won many viewers with its unmatched coverage of domestic sports, especially football. It also broadcast the 2006 Asian Games held in Doha. The AFC Asian Cup is the primary association football competition contested by the senior men's national teams of the members of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), determining the continental champion of Asia. Alkass International Cup
The Alkass International Cup is an annual under-17 football tournament hosted in Doha, Qatar. It brings together some of the best under-17 teams of clubs around the world. Format Played across 11 days typically in January and February, the tournament has 12 participants split into 4 groups of 3 teams. The first 2 teams in each group advances to the quarter-finals, while the 3rd place teams participate in the 9th-12th place play-offs. After the quarter-finals, 4 teams advance to the semi-finals, while the 4 others play in the 5th-8th place play-offs. Finally, after the semi-finals, 2 teams advance to the final match, while the other 2 play in the 3rd place playoff. The winner of the final is crowned champion. Rhodri Ogwen Williams (born 10 May 1968) is a Welsh sports journalist from Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. He is currently employed by Qatar's Al-Kass Sports Channel and anchors the network's English-speaking studio. The Qatar national football team ( ar, منتخب قطر لكرة القدم) represents Qatar in international football, and is controlled by the Qatar Football Association and AFC. Khalid Jassem
Khalid Jassem (Arabic: خالد جاسم) (born 27 August 1974) is a Qatari television presenter, television host, interviewer, and writer on Al Kass Sports Channels since 1993. Bio Jassem born in Doha. He joined Qatar Television at the end of 1993 and moved to Al Jazeera in 1996. He has been a member of Al Jazeera and has served as Editor, Archivist, Correspondent and Head of Correspondents for the Sports Department worldwide. Qatar Stars League
The Qatar Stars League ( ar, دوري نجوم قطر), or the QSL, also called QNB Stars League for sponsorship reasons, is the top level football league in Qatar football league system. Contested by 12 teams, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Qatari Second Division (QSD). Seasons of the QSL usually run from September to April.
