Al Johnson (American Football Coach)
Stephen Alvin Johnson (August 15, 1922 – May 5, 2011) was an American football player, coach of football and baseball, and college athletics administrator. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 14th round (121st overall) of the 1947 NFL draft. With the Eagles in 1948 NFL Championship Game, 1948, he won an NFL Championship. He served as the head football coach at Western New Mexico University in Silver City, New Mexico from 1950 to 1966. He also coached the baseball team at Western New Mexico from 1955 to 1970. Al Joseph Johnson (born January 27, 1979) is an American football coach and former player. He served as the head football coach of the East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma from 2018 to 2021. Johnson played professionally as a center and guard in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins. He played college football at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Early years Johnson attended Southern Door High School in Brussels, Wisconsin, where he was two-way football player, earning second-team All-American from Prep Football Report, Packerland conference player of the year and All-State honors. Albert Loftin Johnson (December 24, 1860 – July 2, 1901) was an American business executive in the streetcar industry. A baseball enthusiast, he was a key figure in the short-lived Players' League of 1890, while owning the Cleveland franchise in that league. He also briefly owned the Cincinnati Reds of the National League. Biography Johnson's father, ex- Confederate States Army colonel Albert W. Johnson, moved north after the war and became a streetcar magnate, with operations in Indianapolis, Cleveland and New York City. The younger Johnson learned the business and, with the wealth gained, largely bankrolled the Players' League. He also owned the Cleveland Infants franchise in the new league. The 1890 Infants finished with a record of 55–75, seventh place in the eight-team Players' League. History Early life and career After spending his early years in Houston, Johnson returned to New Orleans at the age of ten settling in the Lower Ninth Ward. His father bought him a trumpet, also a piano for his sisters and a trombone for his brother. Johnson took interest in the piano and learned the basic chord changes in different keys. Alfred Orlando Johnson (February 11, 1948 – October 26, 2013) was an American R&B singer, writer, arranger and producer. He co-wrote the song "We Have Love for You" with Deniece Williams from her 1977 album ''Songbird''. Biography Born in Newport News, Virginia in 1948, Johnson attended Howard University in Washington, D.C. and while there, co-founded the soul group, the Unifics. The group, with Johnson as lead singer, scored three hits on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in 1968 and 1969 for the Kapp Records label. The first, "Court of Love" climbed to #25, but reached #3 on the US '' Billboard'' R&B chart. The follow-up, "The Beginning of My End" got to #36 on the Hot 100 and #9 R&B. Al Johnson (born 13 April 1939) is a Canadian former politician, professional geologist, and exploration manager. Johnson was a Progressive Conservative member of the House of Commons of Canada. Born in Montreal, Quebec, Johnson moved to Calgary, Alberta and represented the riding of Calgary North, which he won in the 1988 federal election.
