Al Anderson (musician)
Albert Anderson (born October 11, 1950)Larkin, Colin (1998) ''The Virgin Encyclopedia of Reggae'', Virgin Books, , p.11 is an American-born songwriter and guitarist. Anderson grew up in Montclair, New Jersey and attended Montclair High School where he learned to play the trombone, eventually picking up guitar & bass guitar. He later attended the Berklee College of Music contemporaneously with Pat Metheny and Al Di Meola after working with an early version of Aerosmith in the Boston music scene. He joined The Centurions, which brought him to the attention of Chris Wood of Traffic, who invited him to play on the band's next album. The Traffic album involvement never materialized, but led to Anderson becoming employed by Traffic's record label Island Records, leading to him being asked to play lead guitar on Bob Marley & The Wailers' ''Natty Dread'' sessions. A songwriter is a musician who professionally composes musical compositions or writes lyrics for songs, or both. ''Legalize It'' is the debut studio album by Jamaican singer-songwriter and former Wailer Peter Tosh, released in June 1976. It was recorded at Treasure Isle and Randy's, Kingston. ''Legalize It'' is one of the two solo albums released in 1976 by Wailers members, along with Bunny Wailer's album ''Blackheart Man''. Bob Marley and his new Wailers also released ''Rastaman Vibration''. The song was written in response to his ongoing victimization by the Jamaican police and as a political piece pushing for the legalization of cannabis, particularly for medical use. In 1977, Tosh backed this up by saying "We are the victims of Rasclot circumstances. Victimization, colonialism, gonna lead to bloodbath". Word, Sound and Power are a Jamaican reggae band, formed in 1976 as Peter Tosh's backing band after Tosh left The Wailers. ''Live!'' is a 1975 album by Bob Marley and the Wailers which was recorded live in concert during July 1975 at the Lyceum Theatre, London. " No Woman, No Cry (Live '75)" was released as a single. Production The band's two concerts at the Lyceum Theatre, London, on 17th and 18 July 1975, were recorded by Island Records employee Danny Holloway using the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio. The tracks for the album were selected mostly from the 17th July performance, with "Lively Up Yourself" (which wasn't played on the 17th) from the 18th. Chris Blackwell had been at the first concert on the 17th, and had noted the audience's reaction to "No Woman, No Cry". ''Natty Dread'' is the seventh album by Bob Marley and the Wailers, released in 1974. Previously Marley had recorded with Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer as the Wailers, and this was his first record without them. ''Natty Dread'' was most popularly received in the UK, where it peaked at No. 43 and sold in excess of 100,000 copies, making it a gold album. Over time it gained popularity in other parts of the world, and in 2003 it was ranked No. 181 on ''Rolling Stone'' magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. Patrick Bruce Metheny ( ; born August 12, 1954) is an American jazz guitarist and composer. He is the leader of the Pat Metheny Group and is also involved in duets, solo works, and other side projects.
