Al-Wehdat SC Managers
Al-Wehdat Sport Club ( ar, نادي الوحدات الرياضي}) is a Jordanian sport club founded in 1956. The club is based in and represents the Amman New Camp, a Palestinian refugee camp which is also known as Al-Wehdat. Al-Wehdat's home games are played at King Abdullah II Stadium (cap. 13,265). There are other sports offered in the club, such as volleyball, basketball and table tennis. History The club was founded in 1956 under the name Al-Wehdat Youth Center. In 1974, they changed their name to Al-Wehdat Sport Club and have been called that since then (with the exception of 1986–1989 when it was named Al-Diffatain Sport Club.) Al-Wehdat has 51 local trophies from 1980 and appears in 11 AFC Cup but did not achieve the title. Jordan League
The Jordanian Pro League ( ar, الدوري الأردني للمحترفين) is a Jordanian professional league for men's football clubs and represents the top flight of Jordanian football. The championship consists of twelve competing teams in a home and away league system. The league not held in the years : 1948, 1953, 1957, 1958, 1967, 1968, 1969, and not finished in the 1998 in 2002 the league change calendar to a fall spring season. In 2020 the league return to a spring fall season. Competition format Competition There are 12 clubs in the Premier League. During the course of a season (from March to October) each club plays the others twice (a double round-robin system), once at their home stadium and once at that of their opponents', for 22 games. Al-Wehdat won its 6th title after winning the playoff game against Al-Faisaly 1-1 (4-2 Penalties) . Derby of Jordan ( ar, ديربي الأردن) refers to the football derbies between the professional Jordanian clubs Al-Faisaly and Al-Wehdat from the capital Amman. Al-Faisaly and Al-Wehdat are the most successful clubs in the history of the Jordanian league, both teams serve as the main recruiting pools for Jordan national team. Background Matches between the rival teams have a long history of violence, mirroring the divisions between the country's majority Palestinians and native Jordanians, mostly tribes who inhabited the East Bank of the Jordan River before the displacement of Palestinians after the creation of Israel in 1948.
