Al-Thakera Publishing House was founded in Baghdad by Dr. Issam Al-Kawaz in 2001. Before that, it was a library before it was transformed in the same year into an official Iraqi publishing house serving literary and political issues, biographies, memoirs, history books, philosophy, social sciences, religion, national thought, art illustrated books and children's books. International Prize For Arabic Fiction
The International Prize for Arabic Fiction (IPAF) ( ar, الجائزة العالمية للرواية العربية) is the most prestigious and important literary prize in the Arab world. Its aim is to reward excellence in contemporary Arabic creative writing and to encourage the readership of high quality Arabic literature internationally through the translation and publication of winning and shortlisted novels in other major languages. In addition to the prize itself, IPAF supports other literary initiatives. In 2009, IPAF launched its inaugural Nadwa (writers’ workshop) for emerging writers of fiction in Arabic. Maysalun Hadi
Maysalun Hadi (born 1954) is an Iraqi writer. She was born in the Adhamiyah district of Baghdad and studied statistics at Baghdad University. As a writer, she has published numerous books and articles, spanning a wide range of genres. Her novel ''Prophecy of Pharaoh'' won the Bashraheel prize for best Arabic novel and was translated into English by Angham Altamimi. The Riyadh International Book Fair (RIBF) is an annual book fair in Saudi Arabia. The Arab Writers Union (ar.: اتحاد الكتاب العرب) is an association of Arab writers, founded in 1969, in Damascus, Syria, at the initiative of a group of Arab writers including Syrian novelist Hanna Mina. Hadia Hussein
