Al-Orouba Sporting Club ( ar, نادي العروبة الرياضي ; also known locally as ''Al-Marid'', or "The Giant(s)", or just plainly as Al-Orouba) is an Omani sports club based in Sur, Oman. The club is currently playing in the Oman Professional League, top division of Oman Football Association. Their home ground is Sur Sports Complex. The stadium is government owned, but they also own their own personal stadium and sports equipments, as well as their own training facilities. The club also participated in AFC Cup, in continental stages. History The club was actually formed in 1956 in Kuwait and the name given was Al-Ahli. Al-Oruba Sports Club was a Qatari football club. The football club merged with Al-Nasour to form a new football club named Al-Esteqlal, now known as Qatar SC. It was a founding member of the Q-League and it has won five consecutive Q-League titles. History Early career Al Oruba was founded in 1959. The idea of founding the club came from Abdulaziz bin Jassim. It was decided as the club name by the majority of football supporters due to the overwhelming number of Arab clubs with revolutionary names at the time. The club started off with just 18 players and staff members, and the first president was Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani. Initially, blue and white were the official colors of the club, and the headquarters was situated in a small 4-room house owned by Jassim bin Hamad. Ouroube Sports Club () ( hy, Ուրուբե) is a Syrian sports club based in Aleppo, best known for their football team and basketball teams (men and women). Founded in 1923, Ouroube is the oldest sports organization in Syria. The club is part of the Antranik Youth Association, which is a sports program of the AGBU organization. In general, 5 types of sports are being practiced by the club. History The club was founded as al-Ahd al-Jadid () in 1923 by Armenian refugees and survivors of the Armenian genocide. Two minor sport clubs -Istiqlal () and al-Mish'al ()- were also founded by the Armenians of Aleppo in 1930 and 1931 respectively. Al-Ahd al-Jadid and Istiqlal were specialized in football while al-Mish'al was a basketball club.
