Al-Naqil SC
Al-Naqil Sports Club ( ar, نادي النقل الرياضي, meaning ''Transport Sports Club''), was an Iraqi sports club based in Baghdad that was founded in 1937 under the name Al-Sikak Al-Hadeed ( ar, السكك الØديد, meaning ''Railways''). They were renamed Al-Naqil in 1974, competing in the first season of the Iraqi Premier League (the top tier of Iraqi club football) and finishing as runners-up. The club was dissolved in 1975 as they had no administration or financial backing. Their football players left to join newly-promoted club Al-Zawraa, who went on to become one of Iraqi football's most successful clubs. Al-Naqil won one trophy in their existence, which was the Independent Baghdad Tournament in 1973, a tournament held to allow teams to continue playing matches after the premature end to the 1972–73 Iraq Central FA First Division. 1974–75 Iraqi National League
The 1974–75 Iraqi National Clubs First Division was the first edition of the competition since the Iraq Football Association (IFA) founded it as the country's first nationwide league of clubs, replacing the Iraqi National First Division that had been established one year prior for clubs and institutions. Iraqi Premier League
The Iraqi Premier League ( ar, الدوري العراقي الممتاز) is the top level of the Iraqi football league system. Contested by 20 clubs, it is operated by the Iraq Football Association (IFA) and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Iraq Division One. The league was formed by the IFA in 1974 as the Iraqi National Clubs First Division, the first nationwide league of clubs in Iraq. The current format sees 20 teams playing 38 matches each (playing each team in the league twice, home and away), totalling 380 matches in the season. Of the 80 teams to have competed since the inception of the league in 1974, eleven have won the title. Al-Zawraa Sports Club ( ar, نادي الزوراء الرياضي) is an Iraqi sports club based in Utayfia, Karkh, Karkh District (near Tigris River), Baghdad. Their football team compete in the Iraqi Premier League, the top-flight of Football in Iraq, Iraqi football. Al-Zawraa are the most decorated club in Iraq having won 14 Premier League titles, 16 Iraq FA Cups and 5 Iraqi Super Cups, all national records. Al-Zawraa also won the Iraqi Elite Cup a joint-record 3 times. Independent Baghdad Tournament
The Independent Baghdad Tournament (Arabic: دورة بغداد الخاصة) was a tournament organised by the Iraq Football Association in 1973, independently from its main regional league competitions, to allow the region's top-flight teams to continue playing matches after the premature end to the 1972–73 Iraq Central FA First Division. The teams were not able to field players that had been called up for the Iraq national team or the Iraq military team, as those players were preparing for the World Cup qualifiers and the Military World Championship respectively. 1972–73 Iraq Central FA First Division
The 1972–73 Iraq Central FA First Division was the 25th and last season of the Iraq Central FA League (the top division of football in Baghdad and its neighbouring cities from 1948 to 1973); it began on 16 October 1972. The first half of the season concluded on 31 December 1972 at which point the season was ended; this was due to scheduling difficulties with the Iraq national and military teams' matches that caused the cancellation of the second half of the season. Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, who led the table at the halfway point having won all of their seven games, were thus crowned champions for their fourth league title. Aliyat Al-Shorta Sport Club ( ar, نادي آليات الشرطة الرياضي, lit=''Police Machinery Sport Club'') is an Iraqi sports club based in Baghdad. Its football team plays in the Iraq Division Two. History The Aliyat Al-Shorta team was founded in 1961 by the Police Games Committee. Iraq FA Baghdad Cup
The Iraq FA Baghdad Cup was a regional knockout cup competition organised by the Iraq Central Football Association (IFA) in the 1973–74 season for teams from Baghdad and its neighbouring cities. Only one edition was played because the IFA decided to bring back the national cup tournament, the Iraq FA Cup, to be the primary knockout cup competition in Iraqi football. The tournament was won by Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, beating Al-Sikak Al-Hadeed 2–1 in the final. Jamieat Baghdad were banned from competing in the tournament by the IFA due to events that took place in, and their withdrawal from, their match against Kahrabaa Al-Wusta B in a second-tier league game. Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya ( ar, نادي القوة الجوية الرياضي, lit=Air Force Club) is an Iraqi sports club based in Rusafa District, Baghdad that competes in the Iraqi Premier League, the top-flight of Iraqi football.
