Al-Muwatin
Citizen Alliance ( ar, Al-Muwatin, ar, ائتلاف المواطن) was a political coalition in Iraq led by Ammar al-Hakim, President of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, from 2014 to 2017. Most of its MPs joined the National Wisdom Movement when this new party was launched in 2017 by Ammar al-Hakim. 2014 Iraqi Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Iraq on 30 April 2014. The elections decided the 328 members of the Council of Representatives who will in turn elect the Iraqi President and Prime Minister. Electoral system The open list form of party-list proportional representation, using the governorates as the constituencies, is the electoral system used. The counting system has been changed slightly from the largest remainder method to the modified Sainte-Laguë method due to a ruling by the Supreme Court of Iraq that the previous method discriminated against smaller parties. Seven "compensatory" seats that were awarded at the national level to those parties whose national share of the vote wasn't reflected in the seats won at the governorate level have been allocated to individual governorates. National Wisdom Movement
The National Wisdom Movement (Arabic:تيار الحكمة الوطني ''Tayar al-Hikmah al-Watani'') is a political coalition in Iraq that was formed to contest the 2018 general election. It is led by Ammar al-Hakim, who was previously the leader of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI). Background ISCI is one of the oldest Shiite Islamist political parties in Iraq, founded in exile during the presidency of Saddam Hussein by a senior cleric, Ayatollah Mohammad Baqir al-Hakim. Following the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003, it has been a leading party of the majority Shiite Arab population and an important component of every government. The Iraqi National Congress (INC; Arabic language, Arabic: المؤتمر الوطني العراقي ''Al-Moutammar Al-Watani Al-'Iraqi'') is an Iraqi political party that was led by Ahmed Chalabi who died in 2015. It was formed as an umbrella Iraqi opposition (pre-2003), opposition group with the aid and direction of the United States' government following the Gulf War, Persian Gulf War, for the purpose of fomenting the overthrow of longtime President of Iraq, Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. Ammar Al-Hakim
Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim ( ar, سید عمار الحكيم) is an Iraqi cleric and politician who led the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, from 2009 to 2017. Early life Al-Hakim was born in 1971 in Al-Najaf, the son of Abdul Aziz Al-Hakim, who preceded him as leader of ISCI, and the grandson of Muhsin al-Hakim, who led the Iraqi Marja' from 1961. He is a member of the Hakim family of clerics. Exile He went into exile in Iran in 1979 with his father after the government of Saddam Hussein had executed seven of his uncles and sixty two of his relatives. He attended private schools in Tehran and graduated from the Islamic Arabic University in Qom. National Iraqi Alliance
The National Iraqi Alliance (NIA or INA; ar, الائتلاف الوطني العراقي; transliterated: al-Itilaf al-Watani al-Iraqi), also known as the Watani List, is an Iraqi electoral coalition that contested the 2010 Iraqi legislative election. The Alliance is mainly composed of Shi'a Islamist parties. The alliance was created by the Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq (the at the time largest Shi'a party) to contest in the January 2005 and December 2005 under the name United Iraqi Alliance (UIA; ar, الائتلاف العراقي الموحد; transliterated: al-I'tilāf al-`Irāqī al-Muwaḥḥad), when it included all Iraq's major Shi'a parties. Wasit Governorate ( ar, واسط, translit=Wāsit) is a governorate in eastern Iraq, south-east of Baghdad and bordering Iran. Prior to 1976 it was known as Kut Province. Al-Qadisiyah Governorate ( ar, القادسية, translit=Al Qādisiyah), also known as Al-Diwaniyah Governorate ( ar, ٱلدِّيوَانِيَّة ''ad-Dīwānīyah''), is one of the governorates of Iraq.
