Al-Matar Complex
According to American counter-terrorism analysts the Al-Matar complex was an Afghan training camp run by al Qaeda. In 1999, Mohammed Atef met repeatedly with Bin Laden and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed at the Al-Matar complex to discuss possible targets for the 9/11 attacks. He also alleged to have provided them in training in truck bombings, in blowing up buildings, and in hijacking trains. Abu Turab Al-Urduni
Abu Turab al-Urduni () was a Jordanian jihadist. He was the son-in-law of Ayman al-Zawahiri,9/11 Commission9/11 Report: Notes to Chapter 7. August 2004 who has been described by the United States government as one of five individuals who were aware of the operational details of the September 11th attacks, along with Osama bin Laden, Khalid Sheik Mohammed, Ramzi bin al-Shibh, and Mohammed Atef. US intelligence reports indicated that he was killed by US troops in 2001. Faiz Mohammed Ahmed Al Kandari
Faiz Mohammed Ahmed al-Kandari (born 3 June 1977) is a Kuwaiti citizen who was held in extrajudicial detention in the United States' Guantanamo Bay detainment camp in Cuba, from 2002 to 2016. He has never been charged with war crimes. The US Department of Defense reports he was born on 3 June 1977, in Kuwait City. Kandari was transferred to Kuwait on 8 January 2016. Mes Aynak Training Camp
Mes Aynak (Pashto/Persian: , meaning "little source of copper"), also called Mis Ainak or Mis-e-Ainak, was a major Buddhist settlement southeast of Kabul, Afghanistan, located in a barren region of Logar Province. The site is also the location of Afghanistan's largest copper deposit. The site of Mes Aynak possesses a vast complex of Buddhist monasteries, homes, over 400 Buddha statues, stupas and market areas. The site contains artifacts recovered from the Bronze Age, and some of the artifacts recovered have dated back over 3000 years. The wealth of Mes Aynak's residents has been well represented in the site's far-reaching size and well-guarded perimeter. Al Farouq Training Camp
The Al Farouq training camp, also called ''Jihad Wel al-Farouq'', was a Taliban and Al-Qaeda training camp near Kandahar, Afghanistan. Camp attendees received small-arms training, map-reading, orientation, explosives training, and other training. Nasir al-Bahri reported that the camp was only established following the arrival of Egyptian Islamic Jihad and Egyptian Islamic Group militants who had suitable expertise as to provide training to others. Summary Of Evidence (CSRT)
Counter-terrorism analysts prepared a Summary of Evidence memo for the Combatant Status Review Tribunals of the 558 captives who remained in the Guantanamo Bay detention camps, in Cuba in the fall of 2004. The memos' release The memos were released twice. The 2005 release 507 of the 558 memos from the CSR Tribunals were released in response to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests from the Associated Press. The DoD released five files. Four of those files have names suggesting they were released in January, February, March and April 2005. The fifth file's name says it is the final file. The DoD never explained why 51 of the memos were missing. In this first release the captive's names were redacted from all but one of the memos. Their Internment Serial Numbers were redacted as well. Ayman Mohammed Rabie al-Zawahiri (June 19, 1951 – July 31, 2022) was an Egyptian-born terrorist and physician who served as the second emir of al-Qaeda from June 16, 2011, until his death. Al-Zawahiri graduated from Cairo University with a degree in medicine and a master's degree in surgery and was a surgeon by profession. Zacarias Moussaoui (Arabic: زكريا موسوي, '; born May 30, 1968) is a French member of al-Qaeda who pleaded guilty in U.S. federal court to conspiring to kill citizens of the United States as part of the September 11 attacks. He is serving life in prison without parole at the Federal ADX Supermax prison in Florence, Colorado. Moussaoui is the only person ever convicted in U.S. court in connection with the September 11 attacks. The National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, also known as the 9/11 Commission, was set up on November 27, 2002, "to prepare a full and complete account of the circumstances surrounding the September 11 attacks", including preparedness for and the immediate response to the attacks.
