Islah
Islah or Al-Islah (الإصلاح ,إصلاح, ') is an Arabic word, usually translated as "reform", in the sense of "to improve, to better, to put something into a better position, fundamentalism, correction, correcting something and removing vice, reworking, emendation, reparation, restoration, rectitude, probility, reconciliation." It is an important term in Islam. The Islamic concept of "Islah" advocates for moral advancement through a reformation based on the rudimental standards of the ''Qur'an'', ''Sunnah'' and is characterised by an attitude of bypassing classical legal works in preference of the literature from the early Muslim generations ('' Salaf al-Salih''). Islahi ''ulema'' opposes ''Taqlid,'' strongly argue for the necessity of ''Ijtihad'' and are often referred to as "Salafis". The Movement for National Reform (; french: Mouvement pour la réforme nationale) is a moderate Islamist political party in Algeria. It received 9.5% of the vote in the 2002 elections and received 43 members of parliament. The party was created as a breakout faction from the Ennahda movement, after that party opted for cooperation with Algeria's government. ''Al-Islah'' ( ur, الاصلاح) was an Urdu language official weekly newspaper of the Khaksar movement. It was started in 1934 by the founder of the movement, Allama Mashriqi and continued until it was banned 1947. It was printed and distributed from Lahore, India, and contained Mashriqi's speeches as well as articles that reflected the philosophy and ideology of the Khaksar movement. The National Reform Trend, also known as the National Reform Movement or as Islah (), is an Iraqi political party that was founded in 2008 by former Prime Minister of Iraq, Iraqi prime minister, Ibrahim al-Jaafari. It is a Shiite-Islamic-based party. Jaafari was the secretary-general of the Islamic Dawa Party when he was elected Prime Minister. Islah Jad (born 1951) is a tenured Assistant Professor of Gender and Development at Birzeit University. She is also the co-founder and current Director of the Institute of Women’s Studies at Birzeit and a Core Group Member of the Arab Families Working Group. A prominent figure in the Palestinian women’s movement, Jad also helped to establish the Women’s Affair Centre in Gaza and Nablus, Les Amies du Francis, the Child Corner project in el-Bireh, and the WATC (Women’s Affairs Technical Committee). Jad carried out Gender Consultancy for the United Nations Development Programme and was a co-author of the United Nation’s Arab Human Development Report of 2005.
