Al-Daraqutni
Abu Hasan Ali ibn Umar ibn Ahmad ibn Mahdi al-Daraqutni (, 918 CE — 995 CE) was a 10th-century ''muhaddith'' best known for compiling the hadith collection ''Sunan al-Daraqutni''. He was celebrated later by Sunni hadith scholars such as the "imam of his time" and the " ''amir al-mu'minin'' in hadith". Biography Al-Daraqutni was born in c. 918 CE/306 AH in the ''Dar al-Qutn'' ( ar, دار القطن, translit=Dār al-Quṭn) quarter of Baghdad, whence he got his ''nisba''. His studies were initially largely restricted to his native Iraq, where he frequented Wasit, Basra and Kufa. His teachers in his period included the son of Abu Dawood, Abu al-Qasim al-Baghawi and Ibn Mujahid, from whom he learned the different recitations of the Quran. Later in life, he travelled to Syria and Egypt and while in the latter, he enjoyed the patronage of the Ikhishid vizier Jafar bin al-Fadl for assisting him with compiling his own hadith collection. Sunan Al-Daraqutni
''Sunan al-Daraqutni'', ( ar, سنن الدارقطني), is a Hadith book (narrations of Prophet Muhammad), and was collected by famous Muhaddith (Hadith Collector) Imam Al-Daraqutni (306 – 385 AH). Description The total number of Hadiths in this book are 4836 according to al-Maktaba al-Shamila. In this book al-Daraqutni deliberately collected the famous Moudu (fabricated) and Dhaif (weak in Narration) Hadiths. Beside that al-Daraqutni also mentioned some Sahih (Authentic) Hadiths as well. Criticism Most of Hadiths collected by Imam Daraqutni in his book are Moudu' (Fabricated) and Daeef (weak in Narration). Most of the Muhadditheen (Hadith Collectors) agree that the mention of a hadith in his book doesn’t mean that it is allowed to rely on it. Shafi‘i School
The Shafii ( ar, شَافِعِي, translit=Shāfiʿī, also spelled Shafei) school, also known as Madhhab al-Shāfiʿī, is one of the four major traditional schools of religious law (madhhab) in the Sunnī branch of Islam. It was founded by Arab theologian Muḥammad ibn Idrīs al-Shāfiʿī, "the father of Muslim jurisprudence", in the early 9th century. The other three schools of Sunnī jurisprudence are Ḥanafī, Mālikī and Ḥanbalī. Ikhishids
The Ikhshidid dynasty (, ) was a Turkic mamluk dynasty who ruled Egypt and the Levant from 935 to 969. Muhammad ibn Tughj al-Ikhshid, a Turkic mamluk soldier, was appointed governor by the Abbasid Caliph al-Radi. The dynasty carried the Arabic title "Wāli" reflecting their position as governors on behalf of the Abbasids. The Ikhshidids came to an end when the Fatimid army conquered Fustat in 969. In Islam, ''Qirāah'', (pl. ''Qirāāt''; ar, قراءات , lit= recitations or readings) are different linguistic, lexical, phonetic, morphological and syntactical forms permitted with reciting the holy book of Islam, the Quran. Abu Bakr Ibn Mujāhid
Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn Musa ibn al-Abbas ibn Mujahid al-Atashi (, 859/860 – 936) was an Islamic scholar most notable for establishing and delineating the seven canonical Quranic readings (''qira'at'') in his work ''Kitāb al-sabʿa fī l-qirāʾāt''.Christopher MelchertIbn Mujāhid and the Establishment of Seven Qur'anic Readings Studia Islamica, No. 91.
