Al-Boustani
Boustani is a Lebanese surname. Variations of the name, due to transliteration, include: Boustani as well as Boustany, Bisteni, Bistany, Bostany, Bustani, Besteni, and Bestene ( ar, بستاني / ALA-LC: ''Bustānī''). The name, a nisba, derives from the Arabic word for garden (a loanword from Middle Persian “bōyestān”) and is thought to date back to at least the 15th Century. The family has its roots in a place named El-Bassatin, in the village of Jableh, near Lattakia, Syria. Iliad
The ''Iliad'' (; grc, Ἰλιάς, Iliás, ; "a poem about Ilium") is one of two major ancient Greek epic poems attributed to Homer. It is one of the oldest extant works of literature still widely read by modern audiences. Suleyman al-Boustani (Arabic: سليمان البـسـتاني / ALA-LC: ''Sulaymān al-Bustānī'', tr, Süleyman el-Büstani; 1856–1925) was born in Bkheshtin, Lebanon. He was a statesman, teacher, poet and historian. Nora Naaman Boustany is a Lebanese-American journalist and educator known for her coverage of the Middle East and human rights issues. Boustany worked for United Press International in Lebanon for two years following her graduate school education. She had trouble getting a job in journalism initially in the 1970s because, as she was told by editors, she didn't have any experience and "they didn’t hire women."
