Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade
The al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades () is a coalition of Palestinian armed groups in the West Bank. The organization has been designated as a terrorist organization by Israel, the European Union, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, and the United States. Leadership The leadership of the brigades and average members have identified themselves as the military wing of Fatah. On their website, and on posters, they post the Fatah emblem. The leadership of Fatah has said they never made a decision either to create the brigades, or make them the militant wing of Fatah. Since 2002, some leaders in Fatah have reportedly tried to get the brigades to stop attacking civilians. In November 2003, BBC journalists uncovered a payment by Fatah of $50,000 a month to al-Aqsa. This investigation, combined with the documents found by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), led the government of Israel to draw the conclusion that the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades have always been directly funded by Yasser Arafat. Fatah ( ar, فتح '), formerly the Palestinian National Liberation Movement, is a Palestinian nationalist social democratic political party and the largest faction of the confederated multi-party Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and second-largest party in the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC). Sirhan Sirhan (militant)
On 10 November 2002, an attack in Metzer resulted in the death of five residents. Attack Sirhan entered the Kibbutz of Metzer on November 10th and fatally shot 5 residents, including two children. Additionally, the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades claim to have been responsible for the attack. Victims The attacker murdered filmmaker Revital Ohayoun, 34, and her two young children (Matan, 5, and Noam, 4), who were killed in their beds. Additionally, Tirza Damari, 42, and Yitzhak Drori, 44, the kibbutz secretary, were shot while responding to the gunfire. Perpetrator Sirhan Sirhan (Arabic: سرحان سرحان, died 2003) was identified as the perpetrator. He was reportedly a member of Tanzim, an armed wing of Fatah. Fadi Kafisha
Fadi Kafisha (died August 31, 2006) was the head of the Tanzim in Nablus. Kafisha was responsible for organizing many suicide bombings and other attacks on Israelis and creating many explosive belts. In 2004 Kafisha was wounded during a confrontation with IDF soldiers and his arm was amputated. His contact in Lebanon working for Hezbollah, Kais Ubaid, sent him an artificial arm from Germany. Apparently, Kafisha continued to lead the Nablus Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades with this arm. During another attempt to capture Kafisha it is alleged he lost his eye. During the al-Aqsa Intifada Kafisha took the leading initiative in preparing terror attacks on Israelis, yet the military checkpoints surrounding Nablus denied most of them exit, and Kafisha's activities were frustrated. Naif Abu-Sharah
Naif Abu Sharah (1966 – 27 June 2004) ( ar, نائف أبو شارة) was a Palestinian member of the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades in Nablus, an armed wing of Fatah. He was killed in an Israeli Defense Forces operation in the old city of Nablus in 2004 along with two other senior Palestinian militants. Tulkarm, Tulkarem or Tull Keram ( ar, طولكرم, ''Ṭūlkarm'') is a Palestinian city in the West Bank, located in the Tulkarm Governorate of the State of Palestine. Raed Al Karmi
Raed Al Karmi (died 14 January 2002) was a Palestinian political activist and member of the Fatah’s Tanzim. He was reportedly responsible for the killing of two Tel Aviv restaurant owners in Tulkarem in 2001. Israel also accused him of being related to the death of eight other Israelis.
