Al-Ahsa International Airport ( ar, مطار الأحساء الدولي, ) is an airport serving Hofuf (also known as Al-Ahsa or Al-Hasa), a city in Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. History During Operation Desert Shield and the Gulf War in 1991, it served as an air base for the French Air Force. GACA formally approved the airport's international status in 2011. The airport is expected to grow by 300,000 passengers per annum between 2015 and 2020, a GACA study predicted. flyadeal ( ar, طيران أديل) is a Saudi low-cost airline based at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. It is owned by Saudi flag carrier Saudia. The airline began operation on 23 September 2017 serving domestic destinations. History Saudia, the flag carrier of Saudi Arabia, announced the creation of flyadeal on 17 April 2016. The venture is part of Saudia Group's SV2020 Transformation Strategy, which aims to elevate the group's units into world-class status by 2020. flyadeal targeted domestic travellers, Hajj and Umrah pilgrims and the rising number of tourists, among other groups. Yanbu Airport is an airport near Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. It offers both domestic and international service. The airport's full name is Prince Abdul Mohsin bin Abdulaziz International Airport. Operations The airport was upgraded in late 2009 to enable it to operate international flights with newly expanded arrival and departure lounges. The contract for the airport expansion project was signed with a national company in June 2006 at a cost of SR188 million. The airport features air bridges that link passengers directly with aircraft, a first for regional airports in the Kingdom. The airport only has 2 air-bridges, Gates 1 and 2.
