Akzhaik District
Akzhaik ( kk, Ақжайық ауданы, ) is a district of West Kazakhstan Region in western Kazakhstan. The administrative center of the district is the selo of Chapaev. West Kazakhstan Region ( kk, Батыс Қазақстан облысы, translit=Batys Qazaqstan oblysy; russian: Западно-Казахстанская область, translit=Zapadno-Kazakhstanskaya oblast) is a region of Kazakhstan. The region has a population of 656,844 as of 2019. Its administrative centre is Oral (also known as Uralsk and Ural'sk), a city of about 200,000 inhabitants. Chapaev, Kazakhstan
Chapaev ( kk, Чапаев, ''Chapaev''; Russian: Чапаев) is a town in north-western Kazakhstan. It is the seat of Akzhaik District in West Kazakhstan Region. Population: The town is located 130 km south of Oral, Kazakhstan (Uralsk), on the right bank of the Ural River. The town was the place of death of Vasily Chapayev, the red army hero of the Russian Civil War (1919). A museum was established in his memory in 1927. The earlier settlement was named Lbishchensk and in 1899 the town had 3400 people (2100 of which were Cossacks), 2 churches, 2 schools, and mail and telegraph connections. It has been renamed to ''Chapaevo'' in 1939, and ''Chapaev'' in 1992. The local residents are mainly engaged in agriculture, fishing, herding, hunting and gathering liquorice root. An ''akim'' ( kk, әкім, әкімдер / ''äkimder''; ky, аким; russian: аким) is the head of a local government in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. ''Akim'', meaning "God will establish", is derived from the Arabic word '' hakim'', which means "ruler" or "governor". Village

Bagyrlai
The Bagyrlai ( kk, Бағырлай; russian: Багырлай) is a river in Akzhaik District, West Kazakhstan Region, and Inder District, Atyrau Region, Kazakhstan. It is a right distributary of the Ural river, with a length of and a drainage basin of . The river was originally a branch of an ancient delta of the Ural. Its water is fresh, but mostly turbid. It is used for agricultural purposes and the riverbanks are a grazing ground for local cattle. Course The Bagyrlai begins branching off the right side of the Ural river northwest of the village of Atameken (until 1994 ''Antonovo''), close to Bazartobe.
