Akureyri Handboltafélag
Akureyri Handboltafélag was a men's handball club, located in Akureyri, Iceland. History Akureyri Handboltafélag was founded in 2006 as a joint team between KA and Þór Akureyri. In 2011 it posted the best record in the Úrvalsdeild karla and finished as the runner-up to the Icelandic Cup. It made it to the 2011 Úrvalsdeild finals where it lost to FH in front of a record crowd of 2950 people in Kaplakriki. In 2017, the club was relegated from the Úrvalsdeild. and shortly after, KA decided to break off from the cooperation and fielded their own team starting from 2017–2018. Þór continued to run its men's team under the Akureyri name and in 2018, the team finished first in 1. deild karla and was promoted back to the Úrvalsdeild along with KA, which finished second. Geir Sveinsson (born 27 January 1964) is an Icelandic handball coach and former player who competed in the 1988 Summer Olympics and in the 1992 Summer Olympics. Sverre Andreas Jakobsson
Sverre Andreas Jakobsson (born 8 February 1977) is an Icelandic-Norwegian handball manager and former player. With the Icelandic national handball team, he competed at two Olympics, winning the silver medal at the 2008 Olympics. Playing career Sverre started his career with KA at the age of 16 and helped the team win the Icelandic Cup in 1995 and the Icelandic championship in 1997. He won the national championship again in 2006 with Fram. Coaching career Sverre was hired as player-coach for Akureyri Handboltafélag in 2014. Kaplakriki
Kaplakriki is a multi-purpose stadium in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar. The stadium holds over 6,000 spectators and has offers 3050 seats. The plan for the stadium development is to expand the seating capacity to over 4,000 seats taking the maximum capacity to over 7,000. Long-term plans though are to make the stadium an all-seater, full square stadium with around 6,000 seats and roofs over the stands. Kaplakriki Stadium is a part of multi-sport complex which besides a state-of-the-art stadium, includes a multi functional sports arena which mainly is used for handball and as a concert venue. Akureyri
Akureyri (, locally ) is a town in northern Iceland. It is Iceland's fifth-largest municipality, after Reykjavík, Hafnarfjörður, Reykjanesbær and Kópavogur, and the largest town outside Iceland's more populated southwest corner.
