Akpujiogu
Akpujiogu is an Igbo town in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State in southeastern Nigeria. Often referred to as just "Akpu", the town's geographical coordinates lie within 6” 02’46 North and 7” 12’36 East. It shares boundaries with Ajalli, Ufuma, Nawfija, Ogboji, and Ndiowu. History Two popular legends trace the town’s origin: the first to Akpugoeze in Enugu State, the second unearthing subtle connections to Nri. In the aftermath of the 1902 British invasion of Arochukwu, Akpujiogu had rented land to Aro refugees, most of whom had fled from the British, others of whom had been living in their midst, all settler groups constituting today the towns of Ndiokolo, Ndiokpalaeke, and Ajalli. Neighbouring towns had also rented land to the Aro, acts which were codified in an agreement in 1911. Anambra State
Anambra State is a Nigerian state, located in the southeastern region of the country. The state was created on August 27, 1991. Anambra state is bounded by Delta State to the west, Imo State to the south, Enugu State to the east and Kogi State to the north. According to the 2022 census report, there are over 9 million residents in the state. The state name was formed in 1976 from the former East Central State. Igbo People
The Igbo people ( , ; also spelled Ibo" and formerly also ''Iboe'', ''Ebo'', ''Eboe'', * * * ''Eboans'', ''Heebo''; natively ) are an ethnic group in Nigeria. Ikoro Masquerade Akpu Town
An Ikoro is a musical instrument created and used by the Igbo of Nigeria. It is a slit drum that is beaten with a stick or sticks and can be used in some parts of Igbo land for communicating, similar to a talking drum. Ikoro in Igbo land is not beaten by everybody. It is so special that any time its sound is heard people will gather at the village square. As soon as it sounds, people around assume that any of the following has happened: murder, land has been defiled, there is outbreak of war, a calamity has befallen the community etc. The inevitable thing that happens any time the Ikoro sound is heard is that people must gather at the village square to hear the latest development. Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha (born 22 September 1962) is a Nigerian politician of Igbo extraction, from Imo State. He is the senator representing Imo West Senatorial district at the 9th Nigerian Senate. He is also the former Governor of Imo State. The Dane gun was originally a type of long-barreled flintlock musket imported into West Africa by Dano-Norwegian traders prior to the mid-19th century.
