Akito Willett
Akito Elquemedo Willett (born 22 June 1988) is a Nevisian cricketer who has played for the Leeward Islands in West Indian domestic cricket. He is a leg spin bowler who bats right-handed. Willett made his senior debut for the Leeward Islands in October 2004, aged 16, playing against Trinidad and Tobago in the 2004–05 Regional One-Day Competition. In 2006 and 2008, he played for Nevis in the Stanford 20/20, with his best performance being 2/11 against Montserrat. Willett's first-class debut came during the 2008–09 Regional Four Day Competition, against Guyana. He played one other match during that season, against Jamaica, but has not appeared for the Leewards since. Elquemedo Willett
Elquemedo Tonito Willett (born 1 May 1953) is a former West Indian international cricketer who played in five Test matches in 1973 and 1974. He made his first-class debut for Leeward Islands in 1970–71 at the age of 17, and played his last match in the 1988–89 season. He took 8 for 73 (his best innings figures) and 3 for 44 for the West Indians against Glamorgan in 1973. During New Zealand's tour of the West Indies in 1972, Willett was considered the best of the many left-arm finger-spinners the New Zealanders faced. Willett's nephew Stuart Williams has played many Tests and ODIs for the West Indies. His sons, Tonito and Akito Willett also play first-class cricket. In July 2010, Nevis's primary sporting venue, Grove Park, was renamed Elquemedo Willett Park in his honour. First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. 2008–09 Regional Four Day Competition
The 2008–09 Regional Four Day Competition was the 43rd domestic first-class cricket tournament held in the West Indies, it took place from 9 January 2009 – 14 April 2009. Each team played the other twice, one played at home and the other away. Jamaica won the tournament after finishing top of the table with seven wins from their twelve matches. It was their 2nd tournament win in succession and their 9th overall. Montserrat National Cricket Team
The Montserrat cricket team has represented the British Overseas Territory of Montserrat in cricket. The team is not a member of the International Cricket Council, but the Montserrat Cricket Association is a member of the Leeward Islands Cricket Association, which itself is a member association of the West Indies Cricket Board, and players from Montserrat generally represent the Leeward Islands cricket team at domestic level and the West Indies at international level. Tonito Akanni Willett (born 6 February 1983) is a West Indian cricketer who played for the Leeward Islands. He is the son of Elquemedo Willett, brother of Akito Willett and the cousin of Stuart Williams. He is a right handed batsman and bowls at a right-arm medium pace. Playing career Willett was a member of the West Indies Under-19 cricket team in 2001 and was included in the squad for the 2002 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand, where he played alongside future West Indies cricket stars Dwayne Bravo, Darren Sammy and Ravi Rampaul. Stanford 20/20
The Stanford 20/20 was a short-lived cricket tournament in the Caribbean island of Antigua. It was held first in July and August 2006 in the West Indies at the Stanford Cricket Ground, St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda, and then again in the same place in 2008. It was a variety of the popular Twenty20 format, which had been first introduced in English cricket in 2003. The tournament was separate to the Stanford Super Series, which was held in late 2008. The tournament was privately devised and funded by wealthy American businessman Allen Stanford, who held Antiguan dual nationality. The Nevis national cricket team represents the Caribbean island of Nevis. The team is organised by the Nevis Cricket Association (NCA) which is a member of the Leeward Islands Cricket Association (LICA), in turn an affiliate of Cricket West Indies.
