Akinola Maja
Chief Akinola Maja was a Nigerian medical doctor, businessman, philanthropist and politician who was president of the Nigerian Youth Movement from 1944 to 1951. He later became president of the Egbe Omo Oduduwa in 1953. Chief Maja held the chieftaincy titles of the Baba Eko (''Father of Lagos'' in Yorùbá) and the Jagunmolu of Orile-Ijaiye. A medical doctor by training, he graduated in 1918 from the University of Edinburgh in Edinburgh, Scotland, and stayed in the U.K. for the next three years before returning to Nigeria in 1921. He briefly worked for the colonial government before going into private practice to set up his own clinic. Life Akinola Maja was born Sope Akinola Pearce. His father, James Adaramaja Pearce, was a carpenter, while his mother was a bread seller. The popular Breadfruit Street in his native Lagos is named so because of his mother's vocation. Orisadipe Obasa
Orisadipe Obasa, M.D. (January 1863 – 15 April 1940) was a Nigerian doctor and prince who played a significant role in the politics of Lagos in the first decades of the 20th century. Early years Orisadipe Obasa was born in January 1863 in Freetown, Sierra Leone, into an aristocratic Saro family. His paternal grandfather was the Oba Elekole of Ikole, Ekiti, and his mother was from the Abeokuta royal family of the Akija of Ikija. As a youth, Obasa moved to Lagos. In 1878, he was admitted as Senior Foundation Scholar to the newly opened Wesleyan Boys High School (now Methodist Boys High School, Lagos) where he excelled academically. He eventually served as first President of the Old Boys Association of his high school. In 1883, his parents sent him to England to study medicine. Egbe Mekun, popularly called Egbe, is a historic town located in the Yagba West local government area of Kogi State, Nigeria, West Africa.
