Akhmed Yakubovich Kotiev (russian: Ахмед Якубович Котиев; born January 15, 1968) is a Russian former professional boxer who competed from 1991 to 2000. He held the WBO The World Boxing Organization (WBO) is an organization which sanctions professional boxing bouts. It is recognized by the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) as one of the four major world championship groups, alongside the World Boxing ... welterweight title from 1998 to 2000. Professional career Kotiev turned professional in 1991 and amassed a record of 22-1 (1 NC) before beating American boxer Leonard Townsend and winning the interim WBO welterweight title. He was eventually promoted to full champion after the incumbent champion Mihai Leu, retired from the sport. In his fourth title defense, he won a tightly contested bout against Puerto Rican contender Daniel Santos. He lost the rematch against Santos five months later. Mihai Leu also known as Michael Loewe (born 13 February 1969, in Hunedoara) is a Romanian former professional boxer who competed between 1991 and 1997. He held the WBO welterweight title in 1997. Leu retired after one title defense, against Michael Carruth, becoming the third European boxer to retire as an undefeated world champion, after Jack McAuliffe and Terry Marsh. Due to an injury, he was forced to abandon boxing but unwilling to give up the world of sports, he turned to be a rally driver. He later became a national rally champion. Kermit Cintrón (born October 22, 1979) is a Puerto Rican former professional boxer and online boxing writer. He held the IBF welterweight title from 2006 to 2008, and has challenged once for the WBC super welterweight title in 2011. Early and personal life Cintrón had a difficult childhood. He witnessed his mother lie in bed for months before she died of cancer. Unable to care for Cintrón and his siblings, Cintrón's father sent him to the United States, with Cintrón's uncle, Benjamin Serrano, a former Middleweight contender who had fought Frank Fletcher. Interim Championship
An interim championship is an alternate title that is awarded by the sanctioning bodies of professional boxing, and in other combat sports such as kickboxing, professional wrestling, and mixed martial arts. Occasionally, the champion of a particular weight division is temporarily unable to defend his championship because of medical, legal, or other reasons beyond the competitor's control. When this case occurs, two highly ranked contenders may fight for an interim championship of the same weight division – leading to two champions existing in the same weight division simultaneously. Manning Galloway
Manning Galloway (born April 27, 1960) is the former WBO welterweight champion of the world. Galloway's greatest fights were against Gert Bo Jacobsen which were all fought in Randers Hallen, Randers, Denmark. The first fight Manning beat Jacobsen, Jacobsen lost due to a corner retirement. The second fight was a No contest (boxing), no contest. Jacobsen finally got the best of Galloway in the 3rd fight by decision. From 1990 to 1993 Manning Galloway defended the WBO welterweight title eight times ultimately losing it to Gert Bo Jacobsen.
