Akari Power Chargers
The Akari Chargers is a professional women's volleyball team in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL). The team is owned by Akari Lighting & Technology Corporation. History The Akari Chargers was created by the Akari Lighting & Technology Corporation, announcing its official entry into the Premier Volleyball League as the 10th professional club team. Akari's has been a longtime sponsor of the Adamson Lady Falcons collegiate volleyball team which clinched the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference. Before the start of the 2022 reinforced conference, Akari announced that it tapped Brazilian head coach of the Philippines women's national volleyball team, Jorge Edson to be its head coach. The team debuted in the 2022 Reinforced Conference. Jorge Edson
Jorge Edson Souza de Brito (born October 13, 1966), known as Jorge Edson, is a retired volleyball player from Brazil. He was a member of the Brazil men's national volleyball team that won the gold medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain by defeating the Netherlands (3-0) in the final. He played as a middle blocker. He was born in Porto Alegre. Coaching career Edson later became a coach. From 2002 onwards, Edson led top-tier Brazilian clubs and clinched podium finishes for sides from Turkey and Japan. He was part of the coaching staff of the Incheon Korean Air Jumbos of the South Korean V-League from 2015 to 2016 and the Clube Duque de Caxais in 2021. Edson was a remote assistant coach of the Brazilian women's national team that won gold at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. Dindin Santiago-Manabat
Aleona Denise "Dindin" Antonio Santiago-Manabat (born September 26, 1993) is a Filipino volleyball player. She played in the UAAP during her collegiate years for the NU Lady Bulldogs and started her professional career in the Philippine Super Liga as the first overall pick in the 2014 season for Petron Blaze Spikers. Personal life Santiago was born on September 26, 1993, the third of five siblings. Her brother (Axel Leonard Santiago, a former member of the men's volleyball varsity team of National University "NU Bulldogs") is currently working in PLDT and her older sister is working in Dubai, while she and her sister, Alyja Daphne "Jaja" Santiago, are both playing for various women's volleyball club teams in different leagues.
