Vršac Airport
Vršac Airport ( sr, Аеродром Вршац / ''Aerodrom Vršac'') is a small airport and training facility owned and operated by the SMATSA Aviation Academy. The airport is located in Vršac, Serbia. There are five hangars built at the airport which accommodate aircraft of the flight school and of the agricultural aviation division. An office building with classrooms and a control tower are adjacent to hangars and the concrete aircraft apron. Runway width is 25 m (82 ft). History The first flight on the slopes of Vršački breg was performed by the Romanian pilot-engineer Aurel Vlaicu on 11 August 1912. The starting year of aeronautical tradition was 1925, when aeronautical club "Naša krila" (English: "Our Wings") was founded. A study was made about the advantages of this region for development of gliding sport, and this had initiated the investors to build the first hangar in 1934. Bor, Serbia
Bor ( sr-cyr, Бор; ro, Bor) is a city and the administrative center of the Bor District in eastern Serbia. According to the 2011 census, the city administrative area has a population of 48,615 inhabitants. It has one of the largest copper mines in Europe – RTB Bor. It has been a mining center since 1904, when a French company began operations there. With 760 residential buildings it presents the most urban area due to number of citizens in country, and one of top-five cities in Serbia by number of buildings. Bela Crkva Airport is an airport located near the town of Bela Crkva in Serbia, 4 kilometres west of the town railway station, in the village of Crvena Crkva. Bela Crkva (Vojvodina)
Bela Crkva ( sr-cyrl, Бела Црква, ; german: Weißkirchen; hu, Fehértemplom; ro, Biserica Albă) is a town and municipality located in the South Banat District of the autonomous province of Vojvodina, Serbia. The town has a population of 8,868, while the Bela Crkva municipality has 17,285 inhabitants. Bela Crkva lakes at the outskirts of the town are a popular summer tourist destination. Sombor Airport ( Serbian Latin: ''Aerodrom Sombor'', Cyrillic: ''Аеродром Сомбор'') is an airport in Serbia, located 7 km from the city of Sombor and 9 km from the town of Apatin between villages Kupusina and Prigrevica. The airport is used as a military one, but there is an interest of foreign investors to be also used as a public one, mostly by tourists. History The Germans built the airport in 1944 (1,200 meters long and 60 meters wide concrete runway) during the Axis occupation of the Bačka region. During the NATO Bombings of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1999, the airport was badly damaged. Sjenica Airport
Sjenica Airport ( sr, Аеродром Сјеница / Aerodrom Sjenica) , also known as Dubinje Airport ( sr, Аеродром Дубиње / Aerodrom Dubinje) is a military airport in Serbia, near the town of Sjenica on Pešter plateau. The airport is also near to the mountain resort Zlatar. History The airport was built as a military one, and used by Yugoslav army air force. During the 1999 NATO bombing of FR Yugoslavia, it was damaged. On 27 September 2006, the Military of Serbia announced that it would sell Sjenica Airport meaning that the airport would become public, but this was never materialised. Future reconstruction The management of Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport have visited Sjenica Airport on 18 May 2006, and announced plans of making a project aimed at turning this airport into a public one. Sjenica
Sjenica ( sr-cyr, Сјеница, ) is a town and municipality located in the Zlatibor District of southwestern Serbia. The population of the town, according to 2011 census, is 14,060 inhabitants, while the municipality has 26,392. Sjenica is situated in the Pešter plateau, and is surrounded by the mountains of Jadovnik, Ozren, Giljeva and Javor. History It is an old town, first mentioned in 1253 AD as a place where many merchants rested and paid taxes while on their way to Dubrovnik. ''Voivode'' Stefan Vasoje, the son of King Stefan Konstantin (r. 1321–1322), received Sjenica as an appanage by Emperor Stefan Dušan (r. 1331–1355).
