''Airline'' is a British television series produced by ITV Yorkshire, Yorkshire Television for the ITV (TV network), ITV network in 1982. The series starred Roy Marsden as Jack Ruskin, a pilot demobbed after the end of the Second World War who starts his own air transport business. ''Airline'' was created by Wilfred Greatorex and lasted for one series of nine episodes broadcast in January and February 1982, with a repeat in the summer of 1984. Other leading cast members were Polly Hemingway, Richard Heffer, Nicholas Bond-Owen, Sean Scanlan and Terence Rigby, while noted guest stars included Anthony Valentine and Walter Gotell (better known for his numerous guest stints as KGB General Gogol in a string of James Bond films during the Cold War era). Wilfred Greatorex
Wilfred Glyn Greatorex (27 May 1921 – 14 October 2002) was an English television and film writer, script editor and producer. He was creator of such series as ''Secret Army (TV series), Secret Army'', ''1990 (TV series), 1990'', ''Plane Makers'' and its sequel ''The Power Game'', ''Hine (TV series), Hine'', ''Brett'', ''Man at the Top'', ''Man From Haven'' and ''The Inheritors''. He also wrote the screenplay for the 1969 film ''Battle of Britain (film), Battle of Britain''. He was described by The Guardian newspaper as "one of the most prolific and assured of television script-writers and editors from the 1960s into the 1980s". RAF Rufforth
Royal Air Force Rufforth or RAF Rufforth is a former Royal Air Force station located near Rufforth in North Yorkshire, England. It was used by only one operational squadron on long-range bombing missions during the Second World War, with most flying dedicated to conversion units under the auspices of nearby RAF Marston Moor. Post-war, the RAF used the site to house maintenance units, gliding schools and observation flights. It was completely disposed of by the MoD in 1981, and now is used for civilian light aircraft and glider flying. The Berlin Blockade (24 June 1948 – 12 May 1949) was one of the first major international crises of the Cold War.
