Aires De Ornelas E Vasconcelos
Aires de Ornelas e Vasconcelos (18 September 1837 – 28 November 1880) was the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Goa. He was born September 18, 1837, in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal, a son of Aires de Ornelas e Vasconcelos Esmeraldo Rolim de Moura and wife Augusta Correia Vasques Salvago de Brito de Olival. On March 6, 1871, he was appointed coadjucator Bishop of Funchal, a diocese in Portugal, and on May 7, 1871, he was ordained as such. On October 27, 1872, he succeeded as Bishop of Funchal, after the death of the previous bishop, Patrício Xavier de Moura. He served as Archbishop of Goa for 6 years, from July 23, 1874, to his death on November 28, 1880. Family D. Roman Catholic Archdiocese Of Goa
The Roman Catholic Metropolitan Archdiocese of Goa and Daman ( la, Archidioecesis Goanae et Damanensis, gom, Gõy ani Damanv Mha-Dhormprant, pt, Arquidiocese de Goa e Damão) encompasses the Goa state and the Damaon territory in the Konkan region, by the west coast of India. The ecclesiastical province of Goa and Damaon includes a suffragan diocese, the Sindhudurg Diocese that comprises the Malvani language, Malvani areas of (central Konkan). José Sebastião de Almeida Neto (8 February 1841 – 7 December 1920) was a Cardinal of the Catholic Church and Patriarch of Lisbon. Early life José Sebastião de Almeida Neto was born on 8 February 1841 in Lagos, Portugal, the son of Raimundo José Neto, a veteran of the Peninsular War, and his wife Lucy Catherine de Almeida. He was educated at the Seminary of Faro and received the sub-diaconate on 20 September 1862 and the diaconate on 21 May 1864. Priesthood He was ordained on 1 April 1865. Goan Catholics
Goan Catholics ( gom, Goenchem Katholik) are an ethno-religious community of Indian Christians following the Roman Rite of worship from the Goa state, in the southern part of the Konkan region along the west coast of India. They are Konkani people and speak the Konkani language. Missionary activities followed soon after the Portuguese conquest of Goa as Pope Nicholas V had enacted the Papal bull of ''Romanus Pontifex'' in AD 1455, according to which the patronage for propagation of the Christian faith in the East Indies was granted to the Portuguese crown. Their culture is an amalgam of Konkani and Portuguese cultures, with the latter having a more dominant role because Goa, Damaon & Diu had been ruled by Portugal from AD 1510–1961. João Crisóstomo de Amorim Pessoa (14 October 1810 – 22 December 1888) was a Portuguese bishop. He was Bishop of Santiago de Cabo Verde and archbishop of Goa and Braga. Biography Pessoa was born on 14 October 1810 in Cantanhede in the district of Coimbra, he was taught in 1827. Pessoa was a teacher in theology at the University of Coimbra in 1850. He was professor in ecclesiastical sciences at the seminary in Coimbra and a substitute teacher at the Faculty of Theology in 1865. In 1860, Pessoa became Bishop of Santiago de Cabo Verde which was ordained on 26 August, less than a year he left, by cardinal Manuel Bento Rodrigues da Silva.
