''Air'' is a 2023 American Biographical film, biographical sports drama film directed by Ben Affleck and written by Alex Convery. The film stars Matt Damon, Affleck, Jason Bateman, Chris Messina, Marlon Wayans, Chris Tucker, and Viola Davis. Its plot chronicles the origin of the Air Jordan shoeline; a Nike, Inc. employee seeks to strike a business deal with rookie basketball player Michael Jordan. ''Air'' premiered at South by Southwest on March 18, 2023. It is scheduled to be released in the United States on April 5, 2023, by Amazon Studios, marking it as the first film Amazon released in theaters without simultaneously premiering on Prime Video. South by Southwest, abbreviated as SXSW and colloquially referred to as South By, is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and Convention (meeting), conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas, United States. John Paul Vincent "Sonny" Vaccaro (born September 23, 1939 in Trafford, Pennsylvania) is an American former sports marketing executive, and lives in Santa Monica, California. Vaccaro is best known for his tenure with Nike, Inc., where he signed Michael Jordan to his first sneaker deal. Vaccaro left Nike for Adidas, then Reebok.
