Aileen Miranda Geving ( Sormunen; born February 13, 1987) is an American curler from Duluth, Minnesota. She represented the United States on the women's curling team at the 2018 Winter Olympics and earned her first national championship in 2020. Career Geving began curling in 1996. She was a national junior champion in 2004 and 2007. Geving skipped a team at the 2005 United States Olympic Curling Trials and qualified for the playoffs in fourth place but lost her page playoffs game against Patti Lank. She also competed at the 2010 United States Olympic Curling Trials but finished outside of the playoffs in fifth place. Aileen Mary Fox, Lady Fox, ( Henderson; 29 July 1907 – 21 November 2005) was an English archaeologist, who specialised in the archaeology of south-west England. She notably excavated the Roman legionary fortress in Exeter, Devon, after the Second World War. Biography The daughter of a solicitor, Aileen Mary Henderson was educated at Chinthurst School in Surrey and then at Downe House School in Kent, where she remained after it moved to Berkshire, under the headship of Olive Willis. She went on to read English at Newnham College, Cambridge. After graduating in 1929, she worked as a volunteer excavating at Richborough, Kent, under J. P. Bushe-Fox. She spent the following winter at the British School at Rome, before returning to Richborough. In 1932 she excavated at Hembury hillfort, Devon and Meon Hill, Hampshire. Aileen Mercedes Cannon (born 1981) is an American lawyer who serves as a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Previously, Cannon worked for the corporate law firm Gibson Dunn in 2009 to 2012, and then worked as a federal prosecutor in the Southern District of Florida from 2013 to 2020. She was nominated by President Donald Trump to become a district judge and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in November 2020. Aileen Fyfe is a historian. Academia Fyfe formerly lectured on the history of science and technology, typically nineteenth-century, at NUI Galway, . Since 2011 she has been based at the University of St Andrews and is Director of Research for the School of History. Her research there is focused on the circulation and consumption of knowledge from the late seventeenth century onwards. Fyfe is a member of the Council of the History of Science Society (USA). From 2002 to 2007 she was Treasurer of the British Society for the History of Science, and she was the Chair of the Royal Irish Academy's subcommittee on the History of Science until 2010. Aileen Christianson (8 August 1944 – 12 June 2020) was Senior Lecturer in the Department of English Literature at the University of Edinburgh. She was well known as a scholar of Scottish literature and women's writing, and as senior editor of 'The Collected Letters of Thomas and Jane Welsh Carlyle' and of collections of Scottish women's writing. Her experience over decades made her a recognised authority on both Carlyles. She gained an MA (hons.) in English and History from the University of Aberdeen in 1966. Mary Aileen Conquest-Allen (December 22, 1888 – September 4, 1950) was an American diver who competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics. She was born on Prince Edward Island, Canada. In 1913, Allen was one of the founding members of an all-woman swimming club at the Bimini Baths in Los Angeles, California, which was formed in response to strict dress codes imposed by other clubs. She was later elected captain of the club. Allen appeared in silent films. Her most notable role was Mrs. Westfall in the 1916 Metro Pictures release ''Mister 44''. During World War I, she sold war bonds as a representative of Keystone Studios. In 1920, she finished fourth in the 3 metre springboard event. Aileen Armitage (pen names Ruth Fabian, Erica Lindley, Aileen Quigley) is a British writer and author of more than thirty-five historical novels. She is partially-sighted and legally blind. Early life and education Armitage was born in Luton, Bedfordshire in 1930. She grew up in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, where her father's family have lived for about 400 years. The family house was in Lindley Moor near Huddersfield. Her grandfather owned a mill in this area. Armitage studied Modern Languages at Hull University and became a teacher, but due to failing eyesight she had to give up teaching. In 1967, she took a creative writing class through night school, and began writing at night with a felt tip pen and had many magazine articles and short stories published before she turned to longer fiction. Aileen Shields Bryan (April 4, 1925 – November 29, 2005) was an American sailor who won the 1948 United States' women's national sailing championship. Sailing history Bryan was born in New Rochelle, New York. Her mother was Josephine Shields and her father was Cornelius Shields, the sailor after whom the Shields sailboat was named. She went to Rye Country Day School, St. Margaret's School, and finally the Berkeley-Llewelyn Business School. The ''New York Times'' covered a successful day of sailing when she was six years old and won three races of the day with her father crewing for her, thereby winning as many races as when she crewed for him. Her father eventually named his boat ''Aileen'' after her.
